I bought WinRAR years ago, but over the years I have moved over to 7-Zip. It can handle more file formats than I will ever need, plus I can get much better compression ratios with it compared to WinRAR. WinRAR UI and context menus are much better than 7-Zips though.

I've not used anything other than what's built into Windows for many years. If I've run into Rar files, it's worked for me.
So, in Properties, the default for opening RAR files is Explorer? That's odd!
