Tha's OK. For the most part, games are distracting for me. As I said, I use solitaire to clear my mind when I'm stuck on something. Mainly because clicking cards is so mindless. While I'm playing, the other half of my mind is working on the problem that sent me to solitaire.

This is the way I work, and I'm not willing to change to playing games other than solitaire for "thinking problems".

My main PC is a full blown Desktop/Tower PC, that I use for email, paying bills, working the internet, and playing the old "Solitaire", like the DOS version. I usually play it for about an hour, before turning in for the night. Besides helping me to relax, it also aids in maintaining my Hand to Eye co0rdination. That's important for an 80 yr old. And, I can even win a hand or two, or more, in sequence.
Not only is Solitaire a fun game, but it can also be a Strategy Game.
Several years ago, I discovered the advantage of using the Right Mouse Button, to complete some moves. That greatly speeds up the game.
I was still very young, when my dear Grandmother taught me how to play Solitaire, with real playing cards.
One can cheat when playing with real cards, but not when playing on the computer. It's better!

There is one more game that I like to play, sometimes, called "Mah Jongg". I bought it on a 3.5" floppy disk, in 1992. Initially it was a DOS game. But I've been able to get it to play, on 32 bit Windows, up to and including Windows 8.1/Pro/32. It will not load on any 64 bit OS. So to play it, I keep a Win-8.1 HD on my system, and I boot to it whenever I'm bored and want to play Mah Jongg.

That's pretty much the extent of my Game Playing. Two games, on two OS's.

I really miss my Commodore 64, and the neat games I had for it. There was one, that I typed in from an article in one of the Commodore magazines. It took hours to type in the code, and then save it to a 5.25" floppy disk. The game was a board game, called SPIKE, and it played with a Joy Stick. I've never used a Joy Stick on a PC. I miss that game. I've not used my C-64 for twenty years now.

Computer games are not only for Children.

I have to say that, I do own a joy stick but, it's from 2012
and it's still new. I never could make it work for my Air Conflicts
games. I just never bothered with it after that.
So, I just don't like driving games either. As I mentioned, I taught
driving for so long that now, I just try not to drive as much as possible.
If that makes any sense.

Hey, TM, you might be interested in this new version that runs on your current setup. Doesn't really "install" and can be removed by just deleting the files.

I think after all these years you still can't beat the old Win XP or Win 7 Games for windows -- 2 in particular -- Spider Solitaire and Hearts -- . Both of which are hugely great in minimizing "Brain Damage" when young kids who could be my grandsons / granddaughters are trying to present stuff for zillion dollar global companies in hideously boring meetings when they've barely graduated from high school.

I respect any young entrepreneurs but please spare me from those "pimply faced kids " especially those with MBA qualifications working for people like Accenture (we call it Accidenture), KPMG etc who probably have wrecked more I.T projects than I've had hot dinners - and believe me if you live in this part of the world over winter you like your hot dinners !!!

I still like the old game of Hearts from XP / Win 7 games -- very useful during boring meetings Those can be got from the winaero site. Far better than the Ms store solitaire collection.

Still even works on W2022 LTSC server (hobbled it to run as a workstation OS !!) --Easily enough done BTW. Most things run on it including Ms Office without needing a "server" version, Macrium though doesn't.
