I accidentally duplicated tons of music files in my Music Folder and consequently all my tracks in my albums in Windows Media Player in Windows 11. and I would like to know if there's any easy way to delete those files without having to manually delete them for the more than 800 albums that I have. Or if there's some sort of software that can do that.

Without knowing names of the duplicated file's no, there is no way except manual deletion.

What do you mean by without knowing names of the duplicated files?

They would be named differently. You can’t have two files of the same name in a single folder.

Did it add the word “Copy” to the end of the file name?

If so, top right of the explorer window, search for “Copy” in that folder and delete the result.

Can you show a screenshot of the folder with the duplicates?

I manually deleted the duplicate tracks from the Amercian/English album, but I haven't done so with the Radio Contact album.

See my screenshot in post #7. They're just duplicate names of tracks. Also, I've already manually deleted them from the first album but haven't done so yet for the second album.

They're all in my music folder. Also, I've been trying to use some software programs that are supposed to eliminate duplicate files, but they are time consuming and have a bit of a steep learning curve.

At the top of WMP. Can you add “Date Added” or Date Created” or something, up where it says “Album Title Length etc” right click just to the right of parental rating, and see if you have the option. Then sort by that and it should show as 1 to 10 for the latest added, seperate from the original tracks. Easier to delete

Like I said, above, you can either A. Search for the word copy that was probably added to the song file names
Or B. Add Date created or date added to the same the top of File Explorer like I mention above for WMP?

OK worth a try

Can you please screenshoot or copy paste two of the filenames for duplicate files so we can see how they were duplicated. Like I said, they can’t be called the same thing in the same folder.

    …still on a horse.
I did that, but that didn't do anything except for created a new column with the date that the tracks were added and they're all the same date.

OK worth a try

Can you please screenshoot or copy paste two of the filenames for duplicate files so we can see how they were duplicated. Like I said, they can’t be called the same thing in the same folder.
Here's a screenshot of software that I'm using right now to scan duplicates in my music folder.

There was a major malware incident from years ago that is supposed to have been taken care of, therefore, I'll take a look at this and will get back to the forum.
