I thought their statement was pretty clear: All third-party apps need to use Microsoft Modern Authentication rather than username and password. This is similar to what Google did last year with Gmail authentication in third-party apps.

That shouldn't be an issue for any modern email/calendar client.

Right click on the top column and enable the "All" tab.

For Pro users, who may wish to mirror at least one account to another device, albeit limited features, make sure you obtain a Free License. Don't attempt to activate the second device with your Pro license, as you may corrupt your database.

I have a dual licence for two PCs (each with multiple accounts). When I replaced one of them, I first backupped the database to a zipped file (via the settings menu), saved that somewhere on my system and then deactivated the appropiate licence. After installing EM-Client, I first activated the licence, then imported the exported database.

After that, all was perfectly OK.

I am still on version 8, did not see advantages in the newer versions.

Thunderbird has also made adjustments to handle those as well, so it will be good to go beyond September.

That being said, I use Thunderbird for my main email client and I use the two-account freebie from eM Client as well, and I must say having 10 email accounts currently in Thunderbird loads faster than the two account version of eM Client.

eM Client is easy to set up and configure, but setting up email accounts in Thunderbird has gotten a hell of a lot easier in the last couple of years than it used to be, so I won't be giving it up anytime soon. Plus it's free and I've been using it for years.

Thunderbird is certainly a flexible and much improved email system - especially if you have several accounts with different types of email servers and protocols. However sometimes the automated setup is just too much of a nuisance - especially when you have different user accounts and passwords on your inbound and outbound mail servers or have non standard email addresses that aren't in the setup database.

Thunderbird uses MBOX files to store email, importing PST to thunderbird is extremely difficult sometimes. eMclient on the other hand is happy to use them. Not sure how as PST is Outlook's proprietary format, which is why Thunderbird uses MBOX

depending on the size of the .pst file - a simple way is simply to send all the emails to the relevant accounts from outlook -- IMAP on the mail servers.
Then Thunderbird will be able to access the email server without any problems. A bit messy but simple to do and doesn't require any specific technical know how to do it.

As .pst is proprietary and Thunderbird is open source there's probably a licensing issue involved, That to me seems the most logical explanation. eMclient probably has some arrangement with Ms.

I haven't used a PST since...well...since I used Outlook at home and that's been a few years now, so PST compatibility is not an issue for me.

I do have backups of my Thunderbird profile along with an encrypted spreadsheet with all my 2 factor app passwords I need to update with.

All my mail is stored on the server. I have no need for any local, cumbersome backup of all my emails. Other people do things differently and that's up to them. I understand that. I do remember we used to have a lot of problems recovering from corrupted PSTs in the past and was glad when I no longer had to deal with them.
