Just one question, can I just switch back and forth between the PC and phone? It is very rare when I felt the need to have email on my phone, but every once in a while, I find myself thinking it would be nice to check my email if I'm out and about.
No problem at all with IMAP. I use the GMail app on my iPhone and Thunderbird on all my PCs, and there's never a glitch or failure. The instant something happens on one, it happens on the other. I have some local folders on the PCs that aren't reflected on the iPhone, but that's because those local folders are offline and outside the reach of IMAP. The whole thing works beautifully.

You can interact with both simultaneously, if you wish..., they sync in real time, and quite rapidly, I might add!

No, mine is Apple, and I hardly use email on my phone, so I haven't noticed any bugs.

It's certainly very good for individuals if you only have a max of 2 accounts . For businesses I'm not so sure assuming they already have Ms office. Whether as an individual you have more than 2 email accounts the price is worth it compared with using free alternatives - only the user can tell. I really don't use a phone for emails so whether having this app available for android or whatever is relevant depends on individual requirements.

However the app works good, is nice and simple and that might well be good enough for many who don't have outlook (in Ms Office).

Cheers

Hi there

Thanks for the notification -- Installed on Win11Pro for Workstations (Canary edition).

I find it though slow compared to Outlook in Outlook from Office preview LTSC 2024 though and while I like the GUI better than Outlook and it does have limited language options.

Outlook at least can proof in icelandic (not importat to most I assume here) and also in zillions of other languages too though. Outlook Integration with the rest of the Office suite is fine as well.

My take on this is that for a mobile app then it's a good one -- can't see many preparing docs etc on a mobile phone -- but on a computer if you do a lot of "Officy things" like spreadsheets / powerpoint demos MySQL queries, "What IF" type analyses, project planning etc then Outlook is a much better bet.

However for many eM is a good choice if a) they don't have Ms office and b) if Team collaboration isn't that important or not a big part of their work.

I'd suggest if poss the eM team should try and get better integration wit Ms Office suite --at least for the PRO model even if that means paying Ms some type of royalty (not sure how that works but it must be possible somehow) even if it then means they need to increase the price. Also why the program seems to take longer to start and seems overall more sluggish than Outlook at least on my system is a total mystery as the actual commands to send and fetch mail from mailservers really is minimal execution time.

For example : ( although Linux you can try this on Windows if you have the WSL installed or substitute equivalent Windows console commands e.g via telnet).

#!/bin/bash
# Send email from bash
# simple script to send simple email with your IP address (external)

read -p "Enter SMTP email server address: " server
read -p "Enter SMTP Port: " port
read -p "Enter Your Email Address: " from
read -p "Enter Recipient's Email Address: " to
# get your public IP address
myip="$(dig +short myip.opendns.com @ReSolver1.opendns.com)"
# create message
function mail_input {
echo "ehlo $(hostname -f)"
echo "MAIL FROM: <$from>"
echo "RCPT TO: <$to>"
echo "DATA"
echo "From: <$from>"
echo "To: <$to>"
echo "Subject: Testing SMTP Mail"
echo " "
echo "Your public internet address is "
echo $myip
echo " "
echo "finished"
echo "."
echo "quit"
}

mail_input | netcat $server $port || err_exit

Don't forget to finish the inline text with the "." line before the SMTP quit command.

Cheers
jimbo

They are only stopping clients that do not support secure authentication; I think eM Client will be fine.

What does it actually mean -- "Outlook accounts" in 3rd party clients.

Maybe for those whose English is a ist language this might seem obvious but surely if I'm setting up an email client system and I need to connect to say "anydogsbody@anydogsbody.com" then provided the email server from "anydogsbody@anydogsbody.com" transmits in standard IMAP / POP3 etc with the recognizes security e.g TLS or whatever the RECEIVER of the email should have no problem. I'd bet if one just goes through a days typical junk email and examines the headers there's probably more email systems out there than people have had hot dinners.

So please EXACTLY what dos this mean.

Cheers
jimbo
