Fresh 24H2 Install - No Windows update

Fresh install 24H2 and Windows update does nothing for a couple hours now. I guess something is broken with this OS...

I had Windows 11 Pro, but somehow ended up with Home.

    24H2 had some issues with WD SSDs, do not think mine was affected, firmware up to date. maybe that is why 24H2 never installed, until I installed with in-place accidently.

    Old 9th gen desktop still running in US, updated to 24H2 and working well.
If your Laptop was bought with Windows 10 on it then the version is most likely (usually) embedded in the BIOS. Therefore, when installing, you will be given the same version regardless of the install media.

Ran the .bat file, a couple errors, and completed, rebooted a couple times, and same thing 0% on everything.

Should I try 23H2 maybe (if I can find an .iso)

Came with Win11 Home, was running Pro, Not sure why things are so broken with fresh install. thanks for your time.

I'd rather just do a fresh install, maybe a different ISO. used Rufus because I got an error trying to create with media creation tool in the old OS

24h2 is not going to work, I have reset and reinstalled several times. no updates.

Even if I find a 23h2 ISO, going to be forced to 24h2 soon? Probably my best bet for now.

If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.

I can give you a link in a private message to a 23H2 ISO that is on my server of which I uploaded for another member. Or you can get one from UUDUMP.


Your experience may differ with Microsoft pushing an upgrade, than it is with you doing a fresh install.

Solved! Last night trying to figure out why no windows updates on both 24h2 and 23h2 installs, I did a speed test on my fiber connection and it said 600/600, no issues downloading the ISO files etc,.

on my old Win10 laptop I tried windows update and same thing, windows update error.

I unplugged the modem/router, plugged back in and no internet. I called my company at 6am, they had someone out at 10am. he did have to install a new box.

It still took hours to get all the updates to go in on yet another fresh 24h2 install. what an OS! lol

What I can't understand is I was logged into my microsoft account running 11 Pro, and when I installed with a microsoft account ended up with Home. I bought a pro key and that didn't work. I prefer pro, at least it's working well now.

    24H2 had some issues with WD SSDs, do not think mine was affected, firmware up to date. maybe that is why 24H2 never installed, until I installed with in-place accidently.
