So if you're seeing connection drops on wired and wireless then perhaps it's not from the laptop end. If the router was replaced could you be losing the fixed wireless signal from Verizon? You can check within the router admin interface for signal levels at the router itself. Perhaps moving the router to another location might help?

hi,

Been on wifi only for the past 4 hours and no drops. I am hoping the wired issue is the dongle and i will replace that in the middle of next week. Also, the new router could of fixed the wifi issue. :)

Any other notebooks, iPads or peripherals using the WiFi ? and reporting no drops.

Yeh, maybe probably do .... can't remember the last time I had a laptop that I could look inside without having to remove the screen, then remove the keyboard, then remove the etc etc just to swap out a drive or other component. I'll make software sing fer ya, but me and hardware ... Meh! :scream:

Maybe update your notebook(s).
They are Much easier to work on than 10 years ago.

Huh ??

I've got a 10 year old HP. A coupla screws and the back falls off to reveal everything ... both drives, memory, etc etc

I've got a 10 week old ASUS ... ya can't even get the back off without a special tool !!! And even then most components are only accessible under the keyboard with its filament thin ribbon straps that look like they'd break or disintegrate even if just exposed to the light !!

Nah, I'd give it a shot anyway.
My 2008 HP is very hard to get to anything inside.
My Eurocom from 2012 has everything at hand even replace the CPU and the GPUS (yes 2)
My Asus from 2010 is a pain to get at.
But, both my MSI are the best to work on. Even the screen comes off without having to unhinge it.

Wouldn't be surprised if that's a brand-wide problem. Good devices but ....

Had an ASUS previously and the screen cracked. Replacing was a problem (in those days) because the screen was full lid area - no bezel surround. My excellent computer shop (one of those almost now non-existent places that doesn't just wipe the drive, reinstall Windows , hand it back to the owner and say "There, fixed it for you, Hope you backed up your data") had any number of inter-brand changeable/generic spare screens for laptops but just about every one had a bezel surround of some kind. ASUS required import from o/seas and $$$$$. Not worth it for the age and specs.

I see why you really want that wired connection back.
That would make a big difference on online gaming.

When I built the house I am currently in I had them install a min of 3 Ethernet ports ~~in every room~~ in the 2 offices and 2 in the bedrooms and living areas., except toilet/bathroom, with a main Network Hub in the garage. There is also one in 1 of my walk in storage spaces.
Point is, I hate WiFi.
I know that If I lived in a rental, I’d have cables all over the house, being a trip hazard...

I built the hub, not very professional but I don’t care, it’s in the garage.
