Hi there,
Android has the ability to limit battery charge to 80%.
I did get a Chargie a year ago but couldn't get it to work, so I tossed it.
I find it hard to believe that in this day and age, that Windows 11 doesn't seem to have that ability. And I'm sure that many may wish to be able to do.
Currently I have to try to remember to disconnect the charger before it reaches 100%. Oft times I'm unsuccessful.

Does anyone have a solution?

These are my charge limit options for my Samsung S21 5G phone:

Whether a laptop has the ability to limit its charge capacity depends upon the manufacturer of the laptop. If they want it they have hardware support and software to control it.

I have an ASUS TUF Gaming (2022) laptop. It comes with an app called My ASUS. The app has an option to limit the battery charge. The options are: Full, 80%, and 60% capacity.

I must apologize. I erred an typed S24U.
Should be Surface Pro 11.
I also noticed I posted the same request back in 2023.
I have now turned on Energy Saver and currently have it charging. Will see if it stops at 80 percent.

Is there still a way to achieve this in UEFI?

Thank you.

You can control Smart Charging using the Surface app. You can control whether the Surface Pro charges to 80% or 100%. See Smart charging on Surface.

This is what the Google AI Overview spit out. Naturally the AI doesn't always get thing right so it is best to double-check what it says.
To limit charging on your Surface Pro 11, you can use the "Battery Limit" feature in the Surface UEFI settings, which restricts charging to 50%. You can also enable "Smart Charging" which will limit charging to 80% when the device is plugged in for extended periods.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
1. Battery Limit (50%):
* Access UEFI: Restart your Surface Pro 11 and press the Power button and the Volume Up button simultaneously when the Microsoft logo appears.
* Navigate to Advanced Options: Choose "Boot Configuration" > "Advanced Options".
* Toggle Battery Limit: Toggle "Enable Battery Limit" to "On" to limit charging to 50%.

2. Smart Charging (80%):
* Smart Charging is an automatic feature: Surface devices have a built-in feature that limits charging to 80% when it detects prolonged use while plugged in.
* You don't need to enable it: Smart Charging is enabled by default.
* Check if it's enabled: In Windows 11, Microsoft will tell you if Surface smart charging is enabled with a small “heart” icon below the partially filled battery meter
* Note: The 80% charging limit automatically turns off when the battery has been discharged below 20%.
* To charge to 100%: You'll still need to leave your Surface on the charger while it fills up that last 20 percent of its battery.
* Open the Surface app: Select Start and open the Surface app.
* Select Battery & Charging: Select Battery & charging and from the Charging mode section, select Limit to 80%.

Hi MisterEd.
Thank you for that.
I went into the bios and followed your instructions. Am set to 50 percent.
Thanks again, Paul.

Bottom line is that this is not a Windows issue. It is the BIOS that must be able to limit the charging to a certain percentage.

This has become a popular option lately and is available on many laptops now.

The five 8TB drives and three 512GB SSDs are part of a DrivePool using StableBit DrivePool software. The three SSDs are devoted purely to caching for the 8TB drives. All of the important data is stored in triplicate so that I can withstand simultaneous failure of 2 disks.
