Maybe I've just been a bit too impatient. Since 10 does it right away, I thought 11 should as well.

I always have fresh backups in the rare event an update creates havoc. But I've found even with Windows 10 that I generally have a choice with involved updates. The Microsoft Defender updates are the ones that usually happen automatically, and that's the way I like it.

I know that story. I started building all my PCs after my first one in the mid 90s. I usually get itchy for something new every couple of years, so accumulated lots of spare parts as I updated. As a result, I now have 4 desktops, 2 with Windows 10 and 2 with 11 Insider versions. I could build more from spare parts, but those 4 plus a laptop seem to be about enough.
