Full backups takes the longest of my regular tasks, second longest is full scan by Windows Defender.

How to speed them up when considering a new computer?
Highest thread count?
Highest GHz?
Other?

How long things like those you mentioned, take... depends on how much data is on the C: (Windows) drive.
If the Windows drive has only 30GB on it... things are gonna go fast.
If it has 300GB on it... things will go much slower.

Don't forget to look at your back-up medium. I do an incremental back-up to a separate internal hard disk twice a day and those are pretty fast, but when I plug in the external 5400 rpm USB disk to do my weekly backup, it takes forever. My viewpoint is that having a good backup takes as long as it takes.

Time-for-backup is dependent on three main factors: read-speed of source medium, write-speed of destination medium, and size of database being backed up. From my M2 main drive to another internal M2 drive, I can image my C: drive (which has essentially nothing on it except the OS) in a minute and a few seconds. If I go out to my external SSD, with a much slower write-speed, it takes another 20-30 seconds for an image of the exact same data.

SSD to SSD. I use Macrium Reflect to do a full backup of SSD C to SSD E, resulting in a 235GB backup file. Time: 1.25, one minute 25 seconds.

How the heck did your C: backup get to be 235GB? An MR image of my C: plus D: (where all of my apps and docs are) doesn't even get to 17GB with default medium compression.

Just a regular install, plus my photos and music. Lots of photos, Lightroom and Photoshop. I don’t know, never thought about it being ‘big’. What are others’ backup file size?

Nothing that size. I keep all my music, pictures and videos on other SSDs. Takes me 1 minute and a few seconds to backup my C drive. That's why it is no bother doing several Macrium backups a day.

Maybe I could do a Poll..... How many users clean all the garbage out of their C: drive before they do their backups?
I do, just because I don't want a lot of junk files cluttering up, and swelling my backups.
Currently, I'm managing to keep my backup image file of C: , down to <14 GB.

As can be seen from my shot in #6 above, I do a complete disk 0 (C: and D:) backup image every night before shutdown. I store the last five days' images on a separate disk (disk 1), and move the older five or so to my external every five or so days. It makes good sense to me to have ten images, but I don't see the need for any more than that. Five on an internal, five on an external, and I sleep well so far as backups are concerned. Not so much space required.

In the "software and apps" section, I just posted my latest version of my Cleanup.bat program, including one line to remove all the Chrome TIF's.
Del /F /S /Q "C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache\*.*"

Y'all can waste a lot of time doing backups, if you don't clean out the junk first. And, also waste a lot of space on the drive where you store your backups.

Again as was stated, the size of the data on the SSD/HDD for Both of your worries.
Malware scans will primarily scan the OS and where it is most likely to find malware.
I have a Core i7 on one of my notebooks and a Core i9 on the other. Malwarebytes'
takes roughly the same time to scan the OS. Usually about 2 minutes for a regular
quick scan and If I ask for a full scan , it usually takes quite a bit longer as it will scan
all files (well, most of them) from the OS and all installed programs plus memory.
This could take from 30 minutes to several hrs depending how much software and
memory it has to scan.

Folks, the questions are of course ceteris paribus i.e. everything else being equal.

For example, when comparing duration of backups, do not compare the duration of backup of 1 GB of data to the duration of backup of 1 TB of data.

So, what are the 3 top computer performance specifications to minimize the duration of

Compress C, smaller size will backup a bit faster. Disable backup file compression, if you have plenty of space.

Please fill in your system specifications.

To get a quick malware scan ditch Defender and use Webroot. My scans take about a minute.

Full backups and full malware scans can take a long time! Not talking about reducing the backup load in any way, nor reducing the malware scan in any way. Just assume the same backup load and the same malware scan, what are the most important computer performance specs that go into the durations of these processes? Thanks!
