I tried to create a play list in the legacy windows media player from my backup external HHD.
I did get the music file on my desktop, but I can't find a way to transfer the music files to the play list I created.
Copy and paste did not work and neither by sliding the music file over.

I just did it by clicking Playlist on the left and giving a name. Then I dragged the music file [Ripped from an audio CD] then selecting all those files and dragged to the folder name under Playlist in the left panel. They showed up in the center panel and a new Folder appeared in Music with the playlist in it. The main key I've found over time is to have the music files on the computer.

I tried that, I copy and pasted the music folder on my desktop, then opened the windows media player legacy, then I tried to drag the files into the favored list and after that I tried the copy and paste.
It did not work for me.
Then I did open the windows media player windows 11, but all I can do is play the songs individually.

It shows nothing that would apply to coping the music files to the favored list.
For now I shall mark as solved and ask a tech to come and help me with that.
Thanks to all who replied.

if you right click on a song file (mp3 or whatever format you have):

1735851090177.webp

and then:

are those options available to you or missing?

You have to do that within the player itself.
I ended up getting someone to sort out the mess I made by transferring files from the original old HHD and external drive.
For instance the music file three, I could pick a song from the favored list, it would play in the windows 11 media player, but only one song at the time.
In any case, He fixed the problem, It took nearly one and half hours.
From what I saw what he had to do, I would never had ben able to sort it out.
Thanks to all of the members who have tried to help me.
