I can't upgrade to Windows 11 24H2

I've been trying to upgrade from Windows 11 23H2 to Windows 11 24H2 and my PC does not have TPM 2.0 so I've had to bypass the TPM requirements only to get Error code 0x80888002 - 0x40008 in the Setup so is anyone able to help me?

Welcome to Eleven Forum.

So far the only way I have found to do an in-place upgrade to 24H2 on an unsupported device is to take a 23H2 install usb, delete the install.esd (or install.wim) from the sources folder, then replace it with the one from the 24H2 install media. To do that I had to split the 24H2 install.wim as it was larger than the Fat32 4GB file size limit.

Then using the normal workarounds I could use this hybrid usb to do the in-place upgrade from 23H2 to 24H2.

There is one new requirement for 24H2 though that cannot be bypassed. The CPU must support the SSE4.2 instruction set. Older CPUs such as the Intel Core Two don't, and cannot run 24H2. You can check your CPU for SSE4.2 with CPU-Z. There's a Portable version available as a .zip file: DOWNLOADING CPU-Z_2.09-EN.ZIP | CPUID

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

Hi, welcome.

I take it you already have an “insiders” version of windows?
If you’re using the release version of Windows, 23H2, you shouldn't be trying to update to 24H2

24H2 will be a Windows 11 Public Release, pretty soon.
