Brief history:
I have been using Windows' own built-in system image backup since Win 7.
It never fails on me, and the backup files saved my computer each and every time.
Never fail.
Until now.......

A week ago I bought a Microsoft Surface Pro 5 pre-installed with Win 11 Pro.
After setting things up, installing update and 3rd party software, I decided to do a System Image Backup the old fashioned way.
This time I got an error message. See fig 2.
I don't understand what that means.
System Image Backup error message.webp

Also I noticed the Run Now link. See fig.1.
Is that what I will use to do system image backup?

Thank you.

Supplementary post......

During the same week, I upgraded my "unsupported" Win 10 Pro to Win 11 Pro.
After successful installation, I did a System Image Backup using the Windows' built-in backup program
It went without a glitch.

Only my Microsoft Surface Pro 5 unable to do the backup.

There is a mention of this quite a bit... talk of a registry key to be deleted.

Does this help, the outcome was it fixed it:

Thank you for prompt reply.
Unfortunately the link NavyLCDR supplied does not work. It says 404 page not found.
I am not sure how to add the register key......
reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control /v PortableOperatingSystem /t REG_DWORD /d 0

I know how to open Register Editor but not the next step.

I am not sure how to add the register key......
That is described in that other thread / answer: "In a Command Prompt with Admin privileges run:"
reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control /v PortableOperatingSystem /t REG_DWORD /d 0

So you start a comand prompt as admin (right mouse button on the start menu item command prompt) and copy the string that starts with reg into that window, followed by enter.

Click on the code below and it will copy to your clipboard. Paste it into a Command Prompt as Kees mentions

reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control /v PortableOperatingSystem /t REG_DWORD /d 0
