I can tell you one thing... Corsair RAM seems to be the most forgiving, aka the most compatible.

You could also just join the modern world.

I guess the main issue I am having; is determinizing desktop ram from server ram. I believe the board will allow for either, just not together. What I have now I think is server.

Why not pull out one of your existing ram sticks and get all the pertinent info off the sticker that should be attached to it. (assuming it's not some off breed ram). At the very least there should be a manufacturer part number.

Generally, it's never a good idea to mix RAM. Especially when you aren't exactly sure what you have.
It may be easier to pull a RAM stick and get the make and model of the RAM stick... and just buy some more of that.

When we started this, I didn't know you had the one motherboard made by a lonely Chinese babushka, out of potatoes and farm wire, on a leaky dhow... moored in Lake Vostok.

Just kidding ofc.

Getting the exact same make/model RAM (if you can figure that out), that you have... might be easier.
I don't know why, but they usually write the make/model on the side of the RAM that you can't see, when it's installed. :/

I'd suggest just looking for the make/model in CPU-Z, but I've noticed that CPU-Z sometimes leaves out a letter or two in the model number.

This is the RAM i bought... GSkill F4-3200C14D-16GTZKW, and CPU-Z says...

I understand... we've all been there. I wasn't making fun of you, I was just amazed at how hard it was to find motherboard info in this case.

Let's try this. Get CPU-Z, (the ZIP version), and run the program.
The ZIP version, is the portable version.
Look on the SPD tab, and try the different slot numbers (top left), and see if CPU-Z can find the make/model.

Maybe call your favorite RAM company and ask them.
They might have information that we don't have access to.

So is there any way to know if I have server RAM or desktop? How to tell the difference?

I'm pretty sure I need ddr4, non-ecc, unbuffered/unregistered. But I see 'desktop' ram with these specifications.

That may give you enough information about the RAM you're trying to match.

I don't see a Memory tab listing.

I'm not currently using a workstation motherboard, so I can't duplicate your listings.

However, in CPU-Z, the SPD tab shows the part number for my RAM. That information might be helpful.

But you may be able to get away with DDR4-2133 (or faster), 1.2V, CL15, unbuffered non-ECC RAM. If you're lucky.
