Virtualization Install Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) in Windows 11

This tutorial will show you how to install Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) feature in Windows 11.

Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) enables your Windows 11 device to run Android apps available from the Amazon Appstore.

Windows Subsystem for Android is only available in countries and regions that support Amazon AppStore on Windows. Your device also must meet specific Windows 11 requirements for WSA.
  • An Amazon account is required to download mobile apps from the Amazon Appstore.
  • 8 GB (min) or 16 GB (recommended) RAM
  • Solid-state drive (SSD)
  • You may need to enable CPU virtualization in your PC’s BIOS/UEFI.

EXAMPLE: Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) settings

You will be able to open WSA settings from Start menu > All Apps > Windows Subsystem for Android after WSA has been installed.

Here's How:

1 Enable the Virtual Machine Platform optional feature. (see screenshots below)

You must be signed in as an administrator to add the Virtual Machine Platform feature.

2 Open the Amazon Appstore app page in the Microsoft Store, and click/tap on Install. (see screenshot below)

This will also automatically install Windows Subsystem for Android on your Windows 11 device.

3 Perform the following steps: (see screenshot below)
  1. Check or uncheck Help improve Microsoft Products by sending optional diagnostic date including usage and error reporting data. for what you want.
  2. Click/tap on Download.

4 When the app has finished installing, click/tap on Open Amazon Appstore. (see screenshot below)

5 If prompted "Let Windows Subsystem for Android access your Microphone", click/tap on Yes or No for what you want. (see screenshot below)

6 When the Amazon Appstore opens, click/tap on Already an Amazon customer? Sign in to sign in to the Amazon Appstore with your Amazon account. (see screenshot below)

If the Amazon Appstore app doesn't open, then restart the computer, and try opening the Amazon Appstore app again from the Start menu > All Apps.


If you do not have an Amazon account, you can click/tap on Create a new Amazon account instead to create one.

7 Sign in to your Amazon account. (see screenshots below)

8 You can now select Android apps to install from the Amazon Appstore. These installed Android apps will appear in your Start menu > All apps list like any other installed app. (see screenshot below)

I will beat myself now, sorry looks almost as if Ldplayer changed its whole scheme...i used it last year and I could install any app or game, now it looks to me theyve steered toward a games only app..bummer. But if you play games then its a great emulator.

I've been using WSA for a long while now. I can't seem to get this update, I'm getting 0x80073CFB, which Googling returns a ton of threads saying do WSRESET, repair/reset the store, SFC /scannow, all the usual suspects, but no such luck. Anyone getting this error trying to update?

Thanks to @BrianInEngland, I can confirm this now works in UK with UK login, and interestingly, works on the official 22H2 release.

Only problem, is the apps are mostly a pile of crap.

Now to work out how to sideload apks.

I have an ultrabook whose specifications and installed programs I have attached. I have installed WSA, I will use a few dictionary apps, I will never play games. After installing WSA, the fan works a lot. CPU temperature goes from 50-60 degrees to over 70-80 degrees. Question:

1. Can this computer handle WSA?
2. Are there any features of WSA that I can be deleted or disabled so that it doesn't overload the PC? As I said, I will only use, sometimes, 3-4 android apps.

I just installed wsa, the apps that I use, everything and now bingo! When I restart pc it gave bluee screen error. And can't restart, Why:(

Hi folks
without being able to sideload apk's (anybody found out how to do it yet) this app really isn't up to much even on a touch screen laptop. The only android apps I want are those I've sideloaded myself anyway on an android phone (Samsung).

Also anybody been able to make a "Conventional" keyboard operable inside one of these android apps. I tried a blue tooth one -- it locked up the whole system and had to re-boot Windows.

BTW I'm trying this out on Windows build 25231.1000 (insider rs_prerelease) so that might also add some complexity to this whole thing.
