Every couple of weeks (temporarily) I notice that my network speed drops significantly (verified using multiple Internet speed test websites). However, if I enable VPN, the speed is actually where it should be. Normally, it is the other way around, or should be, correct? Therefore, I don't think it is my hardware, or even the Internet connection. Rebooting router and even gateway don't make much difference, and sometimes the issue goes away. Is there some Windows setting that is restricting Internet speed...that is somehow lifted when I enable VPN? or something with my ISP (ATT) and their server?
Edit: I'm thinking it is a provider issue. This morning it is back to normal speed sans VPN.
