Is it just me or does it seem like mobile CPUs are gaining on desktop CPUs?

It is because only P-Cores are hyper-threaded.
Intel i9 13900H 14-cores (6 P-Cores w/ 12 threads, 8 E-Cores w/ 8 threads) 20 threads total
Intel i9 13900HX 24-cores (8 P-Cores w/ 16 threads, 16 E-Cores w/ 16 threads) 32 threads total

A: Of course mobile CPUs are catching up. They're... "mobile".

Most of the comparisons in this thread are apples vs. oranges.
We need to be comparing "like" processors...

UserBenchmark: Intel Core i9-13900HX vs i9-13900K

The only problem laptop processors have is less room for cooling.

Probably not enough airflow. I also use a fan underneath which helps a lot. Did you put thermal pad on vram too?

Thanks, after I read more info on P-Cores and E-Cores, it is similar to mobile phone processors in about 7+ years ago.

The VRAM has thermal pads even when it shipped. I only added the ones in the top. Do you have AC? Since in San Francisco, we don't have AC so our temps are hotter as it depends on the room temperature too. What are your actual temps?

We are local. That's awsome.

Those are pretty good temperature.

I don't have AC in my place too. During a hot day, I have to use an external fan pad where the laptop sit on it.

I no longer have the laptop to test the temperature. I sold it recently and using x220 as temporary for now.

I'm still debating if I go for a medium size desktop or laptop.

If I run Prime95 on my laptop for 5 minutes it doesn't appear to Thermal Throttle. Does that sound right?
Someone earlier mentioned CinebenchR23. Does it stress your CPU any more than Prime95?

@hsehestedt But wouldn't a better comparison be comparing benchmarks between Desktop and laptop core cpus of the same generation. Intel makes a lot of improvements from one generation to the next. Unless tests are done using the whole apples to apples oranges to oranges thing, about all one can say is the newer generation is faster...as one would expect.
I guess I'm too old school in my thinking to ever believe a laptop could match a like desktop especially from a thermal standpoint. I fully realize that technology has passed me by. I'm not as gung-ho in keeping up as I once was.

Finally someone local. I still have no idea why the keyboard is so hot as it wasn't that way when the system was new. Maybe my room temperatures are also higher as that part is hard to tell. My problem might or might not be related to the temperature because usually after a few days, the CPU % and memory still didn't go up but the system lags badly.... I remember other people post about the issue but I have no idea what they are talking about:

His advice is to find that stable driver version and use the modern standby mode instead of S3 sleep mode. Once you find the stable driver, disable the Windows Update. You use Windows Update Blocker.
