Issue with Downloads After Windows 11 24H2 Update

Hi everyone,

I recently updated to Windows 11 24H2 and have encountered an issue with downloading files (PDFs, ZIP files, etc.). Every time I try to download a file, I receive a "Virus Scan Failed" error message, and the file is automatically deleted.

Here's what I've tried so far:

1. Editing the Registry: I attempted to modify the registry settings, but this did not resolve the issue.
2. Adjusting Windows Security Settings: I tried turning off real-time protection in Windows Security, but this did not fix the problem either.
3. Deleting McAfee Virus Scan: I uninstalled McAfee Virus Scan, but the issue persists.

I'm looking for any suggestions or solutions to fix this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps you have another AV program installed that you forgot. Please look inSettings...Apps...Installed Apps

Also, try a different browser.

Always use the AV's "removal tool" to uninstall AV programs.
AV programs have kernel hooks, which are impossible to remove with normal methods.


Just go straight to Option #2...

Somehow 24H2 itself was causing the issue. I restored windows to pre-24H2.

Problem solved.
