Windows 11 Pro
Hi All,
I done my morning WU check and it picked up KB5007651(Version 10.0..7777.1008) I am not seeing that this is in the 'latest news' on this forum. Why did I get this update which was issued back in March 2024? Very strange. Funny thing it is not showing up in recent or installed today in the history. Is this normal?

I got this same update to-day as well.

This is a 'new' version of the update; however, MS keeps using the same KB reference.

Thanks for the reply antspants. I usually check this forum before I click to install but this morning I must have been half asleep lol. I checked after installing and I could not find it in the recent posts. Just my luck lol. I then went into my 'history; and I can't find it being installed even back in March 2024, I guess I am in the group who gets bugged every now and then lol.
Cheers

I believe, as Ian mentioned, it’s an older security update that has been fixed and redeployed, keeping the same previous KB code.

I just checked the WU and I did not get that same KB so far today. Knock on wood for that :) Hoping the ones who are getting this KB over and over get it resolved soon.

I got offered this update yesterday morning, installed it and then it showed up again around noon. Installed it too and so far it hasn't appeared again. Hopefully it's been banished.

Windows update keeps trying to install this update for the last two days now.
I have my updates deferred till the end of the month every month. (it's the way I like it)
but, updates seems to keep on trying. I also have Delivery Optimization disabled until
I am ready to update and this is why it will not install.

This install is from a two year old bug that they are finally fixing. It's for Defender:

Thanks, I did see it but, I don't want it to install at this time. Like I said, only when I'm ready to install
this and all other updates , I'm sure it will But if it doesn't then I will surely use the command you posted.

I went here and used this command in PowerShell (admin) to manually install this update. This fixed the issue for me:

Code:
Get-AppPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI
I tried your code in powershell and it says it downloaded it to C/Program Files/Windows Apps (a hidden folder with access denied).
I rebooted my PC and it is still showing up every time I check Windows Update. It says competed, but it doesn't install. It does flash up for less than a second 'installing', but it doesn't.
