Hey folks,

KB5030651 Cumulative Update Preview FAILS to install

October 10, 2023-KB5030651 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2 and Windows 11, version 23H2 - Microsoft Support

I have tried almost everything,

[FIXED] Windows Update Error 0x80073701

The 0x80073701 issue is one of those Windows Update errors that show up when the client app fails to download and install updates. It’s also known as ERROR_SX

Its also a brand new install of 11, so its fresh but this update constantly fails to install, tried updating in WU and also manually as well apart from all those options in the ove links.

Is there any way to remove this update from appearing or any other way to force its install.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

May I ask where this update comes from?
The event log shows that you already have the
[Initiating changes for package "KB5030310". Current state is Installed]
which is a Preview update for the coming updates and is causing all
kinds of hardship to allot of users. IF you really want to install this one
then:

I'm not being offered that one yet, last Framework update was on 9/12/2023.

Still appears, its from the same link you provided at Microsoft Update site, as well as the one in Windows Update, still appears

Folks is there anyway to remove it from appearing in the windows update catalog on my PC? It lloks like for whatever reason it wont install, its a fresh install of 11 and everything works flawlessly as far as OS workings are concerned, maybe I need to conceide on this one, is there a way to remove it and ignore the update ?

I have checked the prerec's of this update and I have the appropriate .net files, just fails to install!!

Please, don't install. It will most likely be revised next week when the Official updates are
delivered to your PC.
It's a Preview. Do not become a Beta tester for MS.

I always Pause the updates for at least two weeks after the updates come to every ones PC.
This prevents me from having to find solutions to MS' mistakes.

So what your saying is that it doesnt iunstall now but a future update may fix it ??

If you click on the little arrow on the Right of your screen shot, that update will not appear.
Please, just ignore it.

It hasn't installed yet. It failed to install.
Next week , when we get / you get, the Real updates from Windows Update
then, it will install. Please do not install this Preview or Any preview update Ever.

Ok I guess im ignorning this until the real updates appear, does this one drop off the failed list when the newer updates arrive or will it show in my updates forever, or does it just dissapear when newer updates supersede it ??

Nope, it will stay there and shows as a failed update but, does that matter?
What really matters is that, you can use your PC in a safe manner and enjoy
what you are doing. Do not run high blood pressure over such a trivial thing.

Example:
Intel tried to install an update and failed the first time but, succeeded the second time around.
It's no big deal. the PC will still work as intended.

NO, I dont want that sitting there as a failed update that never dissapears, I have never had this before and want to remove it if it will stay, i'll go find a way to remove its entry, what maybe ok for you may not be for me, we are all different and me not wanting it there is not a big thing for you but for others it maybe, that recognising we are all different and not about making everyone like you, thank you!

Don't be angry. The only way to get rid of it is to re-install Windows and the update history
will start from the date that you have re-installed the OS.
I've had to re-install the OS on the 28 of June this year and the update history starts on that date.
