'USB device not recognised' is seen repeatedly. The issue had gone away for about 6 months now but it's back again.
The device gets connected and disconnected every few seconds once the issue starts. It starts randomly not when installing or something.
'Unknown USB Device (Port Reset Failed)' is seen in device manager. Occasionally Device Descriptor failed also appears.
The only constant is that Windows Update History has KB5035942 getting installed again on the day, the issue starts.

Here's the result from USBDeview:
Code:
Port_#0003.Hub_#0001 Unknown USB Device (Port Reset Failed) Unknown Yes No Yes No 20/10/2024 09:50:26 19/10/2024 12:31:27 0000 0001 0.00 00 00 00 XEOTRIX (Standard USB Host Controller) Unknown USB Device (Port Reset Failed) 10.0.26100.1882 BADDEVICE.Dev.NT usb.inf USB\VID_0000&PID_0001\8&296679d1&0&3 Removable, SilentInstall, RawDeviceOK

All my USB devices are working perfectly and I haven't added any new devices lately. The issue is there even if I disconnect all USB devices.
Just this disconnect, reconnect spam notification is there.

I at least want to find a way to block KB5035942 from installing again. wushowhide.diagcab doesn't even show that KB likely because it is already installed. Is there another way.

I at least want to find a way to block KB5035942 from installing again.

But if it’s automatically installing, this could be a problem.

I’ve mentioned this a lot lately. It could be a temp fix until you work something else out.

I have overridden Windows update with WAU Manager. But this means I have to check for updates manually, but there are options in it that I haven’t checked yet.

It can uninstall an update and it lets you choose what to install and what not to.

I have frozen updates past the initial 24H2 download. It’s lightweight unobtrusive and simple to use.

After checking the small box at the top to allow WAU Manager to take over, checking the “Normal” option below it, you can click “Update Windows Now” and it will show you the available updates before proceeding. You can chose not to proceed or select updates to install.
It can also uninstall updates.
If you run it first and let it take control, you are in control.

It's not a BSOD but I've attached the logs(without network-info.txt).

Also, the issue(connect/disconnect notification sound spam) stopped(likely temporarily) after disabling it and restarting my machine. But the Unknown USB Device is still there:

Tried almost all of it. dism and sfc found practically nothing. registry change didn't work it says so won't risk that. Other changes also didn't help apparently. Also, like I mentioned before 'wushowhide.diagcab' doesn't work.

Deleted the grey one before maybe few hundred times. It just comes back.
0 optional updates.
USB selective suspend setting is Enabled. Will try turning it off after checking it out.

Is there a disable option? Then it wont have to come back. I can’t say it will stop that message though.

There’s a ton of results for this on the net, but there is also a huge array of causes. I get the message, very, very occasionally. I have never once worked out why

Tried that, the issue still persists when there is no device connected.

Btw, the issue is back after about 36 hours. Note that the PC has been running for a few hours and no new devices were connected.

I haven't been getting any repeats for that update since installing back in March and I was already on Version 23H2. Checking EOL for Win11 shows support for 22H2 ended earlier this month.

Drive health needs to be checked, if SFC replies with "but could not fix some of them", or similar.

Plus, SFC is broken on 24H2, with '2033.

Yeah. SFC found some issues but not really. Checked logs it was just that known EdgeView2 bug in 24H2 SFC. Rest all was fine.

Did 1-4. Didn't work.
Will try repair install.

I read it wrong as usual dism commands but I hadn't done 4 before.
I did it now. The USB issue went away for about 10 mins but it came back now.

I will try Repair Install next.
