Back in the 1990s, when almost everyone was on the most amazing learning curve, the forums were absolutely hopping and getting help was easy. But today those ppl new to it all probably feel a bit intimidated, as everyone else can seem to be an expert.. I feel for them. Think I learned 90+% of what I know at that time - not so easy now.

Why take the chance to install Preview updates since , not all our
PCs are the same and not all PCs are well maintained as ours are.

Let’s not ignore the people that are here and frequent here anyway, what about them?

I am not one to throw statistics out there unless they are in relation to me, but I am 100% positive in myself when I say that there are way more, way way more posts for help made here for official updates than previews.

Because I have never had a bad experience with a preview, I’m not alone.

And like I mentioned earlier, I am not going to tell people not to see a mechanic because I had a bad one. I would like to think that I just share my personal experience, not dictate it.

And, that's what I said. Your experiences matters. This is why you are here. To share your
experiences so to help others. Opinions matter. We all have them and we take what matters to us (collectively)
I was simply asking how many people have benefited from your expertise in Windows
updates (no matter which ones) to solve their problems and get them back on the feet.
But, it is a fact that Previews do help people come and ask for help. Last month MS issued two
notices to Not install the Preview and one other as they would (but not all) screw up their PCs.
I did see a post about 5942 not behaving properly from one of the members (I'll have to find it again)
and this was from MS. So, yes, not all will have trouble but, some will. I for one will not take that chance.

Well, I am only talking about previews because that is how the thread started, as a question about a preview.

Personally I hope I don’t say stuff like that, maybe I do? Would be better to explain why and to let people know the possible consiquences, as I do when I say “I installed it and didn’t have a problem”

I completely agree with you. The OS continues to get more complicated. Many years ago, I attended some training courses (run by MS) on how to manage a Windows 2000 network. A lot of the stuff I learned then, is now irrelevant, and I guess that anyone who isn't continually topping up their knowledge is in danger of being left behind. That's how I increasingly feel, anyway. On the other side, however, the user interface should be easier to deal with now than it was in the 1990s. It's certainly easier than it was when we had to remember a lot of command lines to get things done.

I don’t understand this link, everyone so far in that thread said it worked fine for them, one person said it worked fine on 5 computers? It also worked fine for me. I don’t understand what point you’re trying to push here?

Of the numbers mentioned in the attached story (there aren’t any) what statistics were taken? (There weren’t any) “Some” people had a problem with the update. Some out of how many?
Neowin prints this stuff so people can read it (hopefully) in amongst the ads which take up 3/4 of their page.
Sorry mate, I’m out of this loop.

You experience is don’t, mine is that I haven't had a problem. Sure, I could be lucky. But I am not going to tell people that they “Should” install a preview, only that I did. If it was bad, I’d mention it, but I wouldn’t say don’t install it because of my bad experience or because it’s advised not to, advised by whom?

Lets agree, we help people according to our experiences, as you mentioned.
