    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

So far, so good. I'm currently sitting in the (by now) familiar big arm chair, got a drip in my arm and am about 3/4 of the way through.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. I upgraded my OS from mint 20.3 to mint 21 this morning took about 45 minutes done all on the net.

I have a Linux Mint Hyper-V VM, just to keep my hand in and gain some familiarity. It doesn't get a lot of use, so I hadn't updated it much and it was still on Mint 19.

Last month I updated it to Mint 21 'Vanessa'. Took me absolutely ages. I had expected, as with Windows, to be able to upgrade directly to the latest version. Instead I had to upgrade through several intervening versions first.

The upgrade tool is only good for mint 20.3 so you had a pain to upgrade to 20.3. You could have done a clean install if you did not have much on it that would have been faster.
