@WXC I have just re-read your post about Todays activities from Tenfourums. I really feel for you. I was on steroids and that made a right mess of my health. Shingles is something else, I had them after my Dad died and had an itchy spot on my fore head I put some cream on it as I thought it was eczema and it ate the flesh away and got infected, It turns out I had an allergic reaction to the anti-viral and anti biotics. Ended up in hospital.

I know (hope) sleeping now. Sorry to read of your situation, buddy, seriously.

The recommended age where you are to get the vax is 70. Paid via your National Health System , or whatever. Sorry I don't really know what it's called. In the US, the age is 50. And I assume some government agency picks up some of the cost. Again, don't know.

I don't know the fact on either. I can tell you that I paid cash for my first injection, 175 USD. that was discounted, from $196.

And I will receive my second dose in two months, hopefully at the same price.


If you look further into it, be sure you check out Shingrix, as this is the most updated and effective vax against shingles.


You can survive shingles (depending upon location of outbreak. Some has been know to cause blindness), it the PHN, side effect, I wouldn't wish on anyone. ;)

Thanks for the info @WXC a vax has never been mentioned to me. I think mine was called "isolated shingles" and cleared up without any problems or lasting issues. Our is the NHS National Health Service and they are excellent but really suffering from covid, extra cases, staff off ill with it and a backlog of waiting because of the covid and lockdowns. The worst thing here is our GP surgery, very hard to get to see a doctor

Good Stuff @BunnyJ I could just eat a hotdog now, I didn't go to town on my usual Thursday trip as I felt tires so I will go tomorrow, I always go on a Thursday to get out of babysitting Granddaughter, only once a week but we got a few weeks off as the place where my daughter works has closed for a few weeks for refurbishment. Enjoy the baseball, I will see if they show it on Sky tv, I do watch the basketball but just for fun.
