that's the way it is here Rod the city runs everything to the street in front of your house and everything on your property you have to pay for.they run the sewer to the street in front of your house also the water line and from the street to your house you have to pay for.

Is the water in your well from an underground stream or river? I was thinking if iy got polluted further up steam and that got to you. We have a big underground stream in the woods

We had a broken water pipe just inside or gate but the guy fixed it for free as he could reach it from the road but we ended up having to get the whole pipe replaced as it went again a couple of years later underneath the bungalow

They did a good job with a "mole" so no damage at all to our driveway but what a fuss, we had to have an external plumber to join it on the outside and an internal plumber to do the pipework indoors

Likely galvanized pipe, Rod.

Once it starts to go, best thing to do is remove it and replace. Otherwise, a person will work themself to death repairing one spot after another.

This pipe was just like a chunk of rusty and corroded metal rather than looking even slightly like a pipe

You can't even hire the water co. to repair it it has to be an outside plumber .Thats how it is for me
