FF 106.x added an icon to the tab bar. It has a lot of neat things in there.
But if you don't want it, just right click and choose: "remove" or whatever it says.

The recently closed list comes in handy when you need to find a site you used from a ways back. I've used the same feature on the Vivaldi browser several times.
