I just looked at the Edge Stable on Windows Canary running under Hyper-V on the same machine and it doesn't have browser managed by organization:
1698969658013.pngand it does not have the policies so wonder where the policies are coming from or if it's really something that added it.

@atinfo - Nope, only the regular stable build that comes with Windows 11 and Canary build. I was only looking into it because of the Secure DNS option being greyed out which I found as a result of what I posted in post #1835.

Did you have installed any new extension (or any new app that has an extension, which would be installed with the app) recently?

I have seen this issue as a consequence of malware attacks (infected extensions). Removing the keys (BrowserSignin) is a temporary solution. They will be back, and the message will appear again (on the "About" page).

I was waiting for Microsoft to add an option to remove this garbage (the profile picture placeholder) from the toolbar and title bar. Instead, they have now added an option to change its place by right-clicking on it.

I deleted the key but unlike renaming the key by adding a 1 in front of it which still showed up as a policy with the new keyname immediately, deleting required a system reboot before it showed it and I discoveed it's really the same setting as this:

Only shown in 120.x versions and it seems to roll out to people slowly as I just saw mines today, not sure if it was in versions earlier than Canary 120.0.2202.0 or not as I never checked until 120.0.2202.0.

@Almighty1

Group Policy does the same thing. It changes/adds/deletes a key in the registry.

Check if you have this key (BrowserSignin) there, if there is, delete them (you have to run Registry Editor as admin):

s1.png

If you didn't set any policy for Edge, you can apply this key to delete the Edge policy reg key. Probably, the hijacker doesn't let you do this in normal mode! Apply the key in Safe mode/boot.

Code (link above):
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge]

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Edge]

If it didn't work, malware/adware may have taken control. Scan the system. There is a tiny (and portable) application that scans the registry and generates a text file with a list of suspicious keys. To find the key you are looking for, simply scan the registry keys and search for "ATTENTION" in the generated text file. Once you've located the key, you can remove it manually. The only key I had was what is shown earlier in post #1845 and that was the Redirect IE key set to disabled. I don't have a HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Edge at all and this is what it shows now after I deleted that one key which was

As an Edge digger, I solely use Edge as my browser. I would appreciate the opportunity to investigate any issues related to Edge. Just FYI, DNSs might inject infected URLs into Edge. I rely on DNSs a lot due to poor Internet connectivity in my region, but most of the well-known DNSs' IPs are blocked here.
