I rely on DNSs a lot due to poor Internet connectivity in my region, but most of the well-known DNSs' IPs are blocked here.

I don't actually use it. I just have it installed (both stable and canary) and solely use Chrome Beta. Sometimes I use it to keep certain Facebook groups opened in tabs or if I needed to read gmail as I have over 800K unread messages. I am using the public well known DNSes, Google in this case so it should be okay but only bad part is it might effect using certain Content Delivery Network providers if it's routing is based on the DNS used like Akamai Technologies for example as one is supposed to use a DNS that is local to them which means locally on the LAN or at the ISP level.

Sent Feedback to MS about Edge Stable not running background despite having all known settings (including Task Manager Startup) set to NOT do this.

Just cant stop it , taskmanager shows lots of Edge-items everytime............

Maybe it's going back to how it was with Internet Explorer when it was integrated into the OS where the anti-trust issues began. I am running both Canary and Stable. Canary can automatically update in the background but Stable doesn't, I actually want Stable to automatically update in the background as well. I guess for that convenience, the risk is if the updated version crashes, I'll be forced to live with it.

Ofcourse but what I mean is hard to tell which one is Stable and which one is for Canary. Never knew it was in Task Scheduler. Now what exactly is edgeupdatem since I always thought even in the registry or in profiles, it was called something else like EdgeSxxS, can't remember the name exactly but when Stable had Beta previews, it did automatically update in the background and the same if one was only running Stable. But when it's Stable as Stable and also Canary, it appears to disable automatically updates on Stable while Canary is on automatic updates. I am sure it has to do with services and not the Task Scheduler as all of those tasks are enabled so let's look at edgeupdate and edgeupdatem:
edgeupdate:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeUpdate\MicrosoftEdgeUpdate.exe" /svc

edgeupdatem:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeUpdate\MicrosoftEdgeUpdate.exe" /medsvc

So they both appear to work as a pair:

There are 2 services for Edge: edgeupdate and edgeupdatem. What is the purpose of having both these services?

So it seems when the stable is running as stable, there is no autoupdate enabled when Canary is also installed
but when that same stable icon has the preview enabled and Canary is also installed, then the autoupdate is enabled unless the later added some services.

Apps that have multiple versions installed on a computer have this problem. If you make changes to one version, it affects the other versions as well. They have common settings.

For example, from my personal experience, I avoid using Photoshop beta or older versions along with the current/stable version as they tend to ruin my settings.

Actually, as in the linked answer earlier, both edgeupate and edgepdatem are not for different things but just edge in general or atleast it seems that way. I guess with this thread, maybe it might be better to actually see the updating so atleast one knows a new version just came in as I would still compare it to this thread to see what was the last posted updated version for each channel anyways and if what I have is newer, then I will just post the message about the new version. I haven't been installing all the apps I need as I haven't kept up to date after I moved in 2009 because I guess I am keep planning a house renovation and Photoshop is something I was going to install but haven't since Windows XP 32bit.

Update: looks like edgeupdate and edgeupdatem are actually Microsoft Edge Update and not Microsoft Edge per Microsoft Edge not starting

I meant Edge has more than internal settings (in its Settings page) behind the seen. There are also many policies in GPEdit (Group Policy) about the Edge.

Yes, ofcourse but I mean Edge is supposed to update similar to Chrome. If it is running, it will update in the background but require a restart and if it is not opened, then when you run it, it's supposed to already be on the most recent version. As there are times I kill all the browser processes using System Informer(formerly known as Process Hacker) with one click instead of doing the update manually with Edge Canary and Chrome Beta and immediately open it and it already would have the newest version.
