It's greyed out on both machines I have. PITA. Finding out why is another matter.
Weird. Have you already tried uninstalling/reinstalling Samsung Magicion?

Just found out it's to do with scaling. Recommended is 125%, changing it to 100% gives this,

1728990421921.png

but changing it to 100% in that setting and it's the same size as 125% scale :(

Isn't RAPID same as Trim? You can turn Trim on or off in Powershell.
No, RAPID manages additional caching in PC's own RAM, speeding up performance because writes can be queued up and written to the SSD later.

So you mean that Rapid is Samsung's own version of TRIM? Please explain.
I wouldn't worry too much about it as it's not for NvME SSD drives.

So you mean that Rapid is Samsung's own version of TRIM? Please explain.
No, RAPID mode is Samsung's own version of a software-based smart cache that uses up at most 25% of the PC's physical RAM up to a maximum of 1GB. The white paper I linked to explains how it works.

It only is supported on those specific Samsung EVO models that use SATA (e.g. the Samsung 840 EVO that came out more than 11 years ago). So, as @Fabler2 correctly points out, Samsung NVMe SSDs do not support RAPID mode, and, this is still regardless of whether they have 'EVO' in their model name, as is the case with, e.g., the 970 EVO and the 970 EVO Plus (both of which are NVMe SSDs).

I've encountered what I consider a highly-unusual, computer-dependant, Magician issue. I have enjoyed playing with it and used it recently to update the firmware of five T7 Shields I purchased during Amazon Prime Days. All functions of the software worked on all five SSDs until yesterday, when the Initialize and Format functions failed on one unit.

Screenshot (81).png

Low level formatting using diskpart worked fine as did Disk Manager, and so I thought the SSD had picked up a poltergeist that affected Magician. I had obtained the shipping label to have that SSD repaired when two control experiments came to mind: (1) trying a different SSD on that computer, which failed similarly; and, (2) trying to format the errant SSD using Magician on a different computer, which surprisingly succeeded. I un- and re-installed Magician on the rogue computer- same problem.

So now I have a mystery. What could have changed in Win 11 on one computer that gives Magician indigestion? I'd love to hear any and all ideas.

For Intel/AMD to expect the OEMs - to give you their own customized drivers for a specific system while using their Chips - makes perfect sense - since those builds could be customized around those chips in so many ways - which doesn't fall within a standard defined by Intel or AMD.

BUT... for SAMSUNG to have same expectations - for storage SSDs contracted to X OEM "MAKES NO SENSE WHATSOEVER" - since the standard IS defined by SAMSUNG. It's not like the OEM - will brake apart this SAMSUNG SSDs - and customize the components in a specific way that only their customized firmware could recognize/work with that individual design. Firmware updates is one thing - but SAMSUNG Magician won't even identify its own products and allow to use its other features (if not retail products) - even tho they take pride in them - and have them listed on their official site:

😒(n)

On the other hand - Nvidia and AMD - makes drivers which works with every OEM card (this too tend to be customized by OEMs - thus, each GPU has its own custom BIOS) - and that's far more difficut than managing a freaking SSD.

Sames goes goes for Western Digital.😒(n)

Do we really need this bloatware installed, I only use Samsung SSD's and only ever used this to check firmware and then removed it. Tried the over provisioning feature a few years back but never noticed any performance differences and the drive oddly started showing errors.

I use it when my Samsung SSDs are new to update my firmware.
Once the firmware releases dry up, I uninstall it.

Well Uninstalled First, reinstalled 8.20 version, then i was like hmmm wait a moment--log out of Standard user account, and log into Admin account, then it showed update was available, let it update to 8.30, and after that working perfectly! Detects All SSDs properly again, and all working fine

At first i manually installed 8.30 since i thought 8.20 wasn't seeing the update on Standard user account, so briefly went back to 8.20, then i thought about trying Admin account
