After reading through a number of very useful posts on this forum, I was able to confirm that Macrium Reflect Free did indeed allow for commercial use. I am wanting to install it in a commercial environment, to see if it does what we need it to do.

I downloaded and ran the v8.0.7783 installer, and specified commercial use. As we do not already have a registration code, I entered an email address and clicked on "Get My Code". I wondered whether an email would even be sent as there is no longer any support for this version.

I was pleasantly surprised when the email did arrive shortly thereafter, containing the following:

Please use the following link to receive a registration code.

I cannot seem to find anything on the webpage at that URL that would allow me to receive a registration code.

I then used the Internet Archive Wayback Machine to view that webpage as it was near the end of 2021 and I can see where I would have clicked back then to download the software, supply an email address, and receive a registration code for commercial use.

I expect that it is no longer possible to apply for a registration code. To those of you who know far more about this than I do, I would appreciate confirmation of this.

Thanks.

There's no need to register or get a code, just install it and use it. Choose the option during installation to not register. Registering simply signs you up for marketing spam.

I am well aware that selecting "Personal use" would not require a registration code to be input. However, the installation is not for personal use, it is for commercial use.

It is not even an option to consider exposing the commercial entity to possible legal action by the owners of the Macrium Reflect software, by violating the licensing agreement. This is an ethical choice, nothing more. Nothing that I have seen suggests that Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7783 is now freeware, or abandonware, or that the licensing agreement can be ignored.

As MR 8 has no more updates and no support, you probably should not be using it in a business setting.

No, the link takes you to the Reflect X page now that v8.0 is no longer current. You can however still use it to get a registration code. What you need to do is download and register for the Reflect X Home trial, your email for this will include a registration code. This code is permanently linked to your email address and is valid for any/all Reflect installs, it's not just a one-time code.

You can use it to complete the install of your v8.0 Reflect Free for commercial use.

Thank you for your advice on how to receive a registration code. Completed the procedure you described and received a code.

I was all set to use it during installation, except that this time it didn't even ask for it. I then realised that I forgot to connect the ethernet cable to the PC, and by doing so it skips that step entirely. It seems to have installed successfully without it, although I have yet to try and configure the backups as I ran out of time.
