OS
Windows 11
my laptop won't turn on, so I bring it to repair shop and they say that the problem was hardware problem which is damaged IC power.

After they fix it, my laptop can turn on again but they say that it can not boot into windows (I'm using windows 11).

Beforehand I've already have backup image of my windows, because I always regularly backup my windows using macrium.

I try to restore my latest macrium backup image, but after finish restoring it cannot boot into windows. I also try macrium "fix windows boot problem" feature but it still fails to boot. But I still able to enter safe mode.

I try to restore several older macrium image that i have but all can not boot into windows also. (I verify all my image and it has no problem)

I try to clean install windows 11 and it is able to boot. Then I try to make a backup of clean install windows 11 using macrium then try restoring it, it is able to boot even though it fails at first try and i need to use "fix windows boot problem" feature to make it able to boot.

Maybe anyone could help me with this problem, or experiencing the same problem as mine?

Had you not clean installed windows you could have booted into safe mode and gathered the logfiles per these instructions and someone could have taken a look at them.
But by clean installing you wiped the logfiles out.

AS far as an explanation of what happened, since you could boot into safe mode , it would make me suspect a bad driver. BUT restoring an image should have fixed that so I can not say what happened. It would almost have to be related to the images you restored. Are you SURE you created the images correctly? Are you SURE you restored your images correctly?

If all drivers are installed now and it's working correctly, I would reinstall my apps. If your personal files were being backed up to onedrive, they should still be there. If your personal files were not in onedrive, mount your latest macrium image and copy your files from the backup back into your user account., Make a fresh Macrium image when you are through.

Just in case windows update installed a bad driver you might want to consider disabling include drivers with windows update.
Use option 1 if you run PRO. Use Option 2 if you run HOME

Manage your drivers yourself or install the MYASUS app from Asus. It will manage your drivers for you.

Hello @kepetmania and welcome to Eleven Forum. :-)

I'm not sure if this matters, but this laptop only has Windows 7 drivers at the ASUS website.
I'm not sure this laptop is even Win 11 compatible.

I can't see how this could affect Macrium Reflect though? Maybe MBR disk and UEFI Bios?

I guess it all depends on what the repair shop actually did.

If they used the laptop's "factory restore", it may have un-done... something that made the laptop Win 11 compatible.
The repair shop may have also reset the BIOS to defaults.

Either one of those things could possibly render the laptop un-bootable when restoring from a Macrium Win 11 backup.

Like... the disk type and the BIOS settings, might no longer "match".
I don't believe that Macrium's "Fix Windows Boot problems", could handle a mismatched BIOS and disk type.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?

Hi, @glasskuter

Thanks for your response.

I tried to restore my latest macrium backup image before my laptop repaired, and I've collected the logfiles and maybe it could help.

What @glasskuter and @Ghot said were right. There are problems in BIOS and Driver.

It seems like the repair shop had factory reset the BIOS and that makes the latest VGA driver not working properly, because the latest VGA driver needs an updated version of BIOS.

After I update the BIOS and restore my macrium backup image, now my laptop can work fine.

Thanks for your advice guys.
