I have tried numerous times on different drives with no luck. I just installed the new m.2 ssd and can't see how I could possibly, restore if I need to. Right now, I have a clone to one ssd drive and an image on an external ssd drive usb. Just testing things, using my USB Rescue disk and seeing where it takes me too at boot up. Where it takes me to, I see no way to select the image to try to restore with. I'm thinking the clone I backed up to another ssd drive might be usable. I don't dare try to use it at this time to test it. Every time I work on things I remove the activation and uninstall Macrium then reinstall when things are ready. Problem is, when I reinstall I get popups saying product key is no good. Or it says that key is only good for one device. So that puts a limit to my testing 2 times, I removed activation like they say and it's still a big ordeal. Here is where it takes me to restore the image but, there's no way to select it if I do find it. For years I've used Macrium 7 with perfect results but it's been a few years since I used it.

Are you trying to use the Macrium 7 licence key with Macrium Reflect X?
Or did you get a subscription to Macrium Reflect X?

That image says it’s version “Macrium Reflect X”

No, I've got a subscription and license key. Thing is, I've never used it yet so I don't know if it ever worked properly.

You should be able to do everything, Imaging and Cloning, using your/a Macrium Rescue flash drive. Versus having to go through removing and adding the Macrium license key.

Well, where the problem is when things go wrong and you have to reinstall. Like right now if I test the clone and it screws up the ssd, then I have to reinstall the Macrium. Been down that road already.

Just use a recently created Image to Restore vs reInstalling. Then you can use the Macrium Rescue to do it all.

In your first post, you say "I see no way to select the image to try to restore with."

Above you say "I don't have any".

To confirm: you do NOT have an image? Correct?

If you DO have an image, the first place to investigate is the "restore" tab

I made an attempt to back one up to an external ssd drive earlier. I decided I would attempt a restore but, when I tried there was no way to do it nothing to click on to select the image. What I posted the the image is from me opening Macrium up while computer is running. The restore tab is not there when I use my rescue disk it's a whole new view than what's in the image I posted. I just made that post to show I do in fact, have an image stored but can't use it. If I could take a screen shot of that I would. But I don't think there's a way to take one there during a rescue attempt.

Can you find this image file in File Explorer or any other means?

Where do you think you saved it? Look there.

Your screenshot in post #1 (shown again below) shows Reflect at the 'Existing backups' tab. At the bottom it lists your existing image as:
F:\B824C2728FD94158-00-00.mrimgx

Click on this .mrimgx image to select it, then you can click the 'Restore' icon just above it to restore it, or the 'Browse' icon to mount the image as a virtual drive that you can explore with File Explorer.

screenshot-2025-02-06-161205-webp.124506

To restore this image using the rescue USB, boot from the USB, then plug in the external drive. Click on 'Browse for an image file...' then look on the external drive to find it. Select it and you can then restore it.

I've backed up an image to my other internal drive I was using before. I'll try to restore the way you suggested with the rescue disk. maybe that will work for me. Thanks! (y)

One of the significant pluses of a Macrium Reflect X licence is you get full support from the Macrium Reflect Support Team for duration of licence.

The guys are really helpful and will even phone you and take control of your pc if you give them permission to help you.

Of course, we do have many experienced users here (especially @Bree) who will do their utmost best to help.

However, IMO, the Macrium Reflect Support Team should be your main port of call.

They also have a really great support forum (similar to this i.e. unpaid volunteers) and with a lot of SPECIFIC Reflect experience. Also members of the Macrium Reflect Support Team actively participate in this forum.

Hopefully your issues have been resolved by @Bree's reply but if you are still struggling bear in mind Macrium Reflect's excellent Support Team / Forum s excellent, and I would encourage you to try them.

I had an issue with Reflect X and reported it. It was not a bug really, more of a design issue and not a showstopper, simply leading to an inconsistent approach to data exclusions.

The Team responded, and agreed with the inconsistent design issue after talking to me and updated the design at the next update.

As Tina T used to sing they are "Simply the Best".
