Memory Leak 24H2

Anyone else experiencing a memory leak. I have just done an Inplace Upgrade, first Setup got stuck at 46% downloading updates so re-ran without updates and that completed successfully to 2033 then did updates. Previously after about 4 weeks uptime the Laptop (System2) would become slow and unresponsive and remote desktop wouldn't work. Only solution was a reboot couldn't pin down the leak in task manager. Laptop only has 8gb RAM so struggles.

Unfortunately, Windows 11 24h2 may not be a great experience on a PC/Laptop with only 8gb of ram. MS official minimum recommended ram is only 4gb which is a bad joke by them.

Umm I have 8GB on my Hp 8460p with no issues. I removed Defender bc it's a Hog thus I know what I'm doing

I don't use remote desktop however, I have a W11 24H2 laptop with 8 GB memory and no issues. The process that I see using most of the memory is Chrome, but I expect that. Sometimes I see my disk use to be pretty heavy, but that goes away quickly. I have been using 24H2 since the beginning of December, when it was offered. No issues updating either.

"Windows computers and servers may experience memory overflow problems caused by a particular system driver leaking data and storing its data in the system's non-paged memory pool. A Non-paged pool is data in the computer's RAM that is used by the operating system kernel and drivers. Non-paged pool is never unloaded to disk (swap file), it is always stored only in physical memory.
The current amount of non-paged memory can be viewed in the “Memory” section of the “Performance” tab in Task Manager. Normally, the size of the uncallable pool rarely exceeds 200-400 MB. A large size of the unrequested pool often indicates the presence of a memory leak in some system component or device driver.
In most cases, the memory leak described above is caused by problems with third-party drivers installed in Windows. As a rule, these are network drivers. Pay attention to the pool behavior when loading large files (most likely, it grows quickly).
The maximum size of non-page pool in Windows x64 is up to 128 Gb and no more than 75% of physical memory.
Only rebooting Windows helps to clear the non-page pool. This may be acceptable for home devices."

I restart my laptop once a day as this seems to keep it running faster. I might check the non-paged pool before and after tomorrow, just out of interest.

have a look in the event viewer section of MSinfo32, it will be reported there

software enviroment >>> windows error reporting

I never leave my laptop running all the time. I turn it off if I'm not using it.

Probably why I haven't had any slowdowns.

I usually do after patch Tuesday, will monitor after in place upgrade. It was idle for the 4 weeks.

idling takes many forms, during that time ALL your apps/programs phone home, browsers caches remaim open - live feeds are updated and many other programs/Apps are still running in the background.

UNusally its an MS program TiWorker. exe, there were also entries relating to your Component store
(TiW is the core updater service program)
is KB5048667 installed or failing

please run the following. in this order

sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
(then follow-on if recommended)

looking deeper into that report, i can see you have reset a fair few services to Manual
suggest you revisit your changes and amend them back to their defaults, especially the Intel ones
(your grahics card drivers have been somewhat problematic)

this is an old trick that contrary to option still seems to work.
UnloadDLL's as Windows doesn't always do this.
Unload .dll's to Free Memory

its a reg entry which you can try and if needs be delete if it is of no use.

Sfc repaired some files. Check health said the store was repairable so proceeded with /RestoreHealth. Services are pretty much untouched as OOBE I haven't changed any to manual. As far as I know the Laptop is up to date so KB5048667 is installed correctly according to history.

i take it you used the MRT Iso??
certainly wasn't the HP cloud re-install option
As SFC repaired some files..... we can only wait

Yes I used the latest ISO from MRT, I think the HP cloud for my machine is still at Win 10. Will observe, currently at 3.9gb free RAM after reboot.
