I thought I'd create a dedicated thread for Messenger Plus.

@Stigg - I am severely behind on the forums as I have not done normal reading since December 14, 2024 so whatever I am reading is only those seen as a email notification. I will add the other dedicated thread so it's watched with email notifications in the meantime.

I have a problem which is more related to the default browser being used as this is what I have observed:
1) If I used the old Messenger Desktop app meaning before the current PWA based Messenger app, when clicking view profile of the person I am chatting with, it will always try to open Windows Subsystem for Android which will then open facebook.com's link for the profile on the Windows Chrome Desktop browser.
2) If I used the PWA based Messenger app and I clicked on view profile of the person I am chatting with, it will open the profile page on the Windows EDGE Desktop browser.
3) If I used Messenger Plus and my default browser is set to Chrome, when clicking view profile of the person I am chatting with, it will always try to open Windows Subsystem for Android which will then open facebook.com's link for the profile on the Windows Chrome Desktop browser.

with that being said:
4) If I used messenger.com on Chrome and I clicked on view profile of the person I am chatting with, it will open the profile page as a new tab on Chrome.
5) If I used messenger.com on EDGE and I clicked on view profile of the person I am chatting with, it will open the profile page as a new tab on EDGE.

So for 1 and 3 above, I am not sure if it's related to me having the Facebook app for Android in Windows Subsystem for Android installed or not as I do not have Messenger for Android app installed.

Seems like other than One Messenger, there is also:
which seems to have a higher rating, although it could be less people generating that score as it's based on 9 while One Messenger has 500+.

That was the well known one which was compatible with iMessages but not anymore from what I heard. I am trying One Messenger now.

I thought I was seeing things when as you know from the Messenger Plus thread, I uninstalled and reinstalled the official Messenger app to fix an issue and Windows Store shows me this today:


Looks like the change is the icon is now blue instead of the purple one which Messenger Plus also uses and the version for this Official Messenger app is v2250.1.0.0. Not sure what else has changed. My taskbar took a few minutes and turned into a blank icon before it changed into this with Messenger Plus on the right:

Yes, the icon has changed to blue to match the Telegram icon.

I think it's to match the "Facebook" logo's blue as Telegram's icon is way lighter.

It also seems like the new version of the Official Messenger app v2250.1.0.0 when you minimize the chat window, it no longer complains that you won't receive notifications so maybe notifications will work with the messenger window minimized. I will update this comment as I just minimized it and see if I get notified.

Update:
Looks like it does support notifications while minimized as the minimized tray icon does update with the circle of the new messages received and I also see the windows notifications.

Yes. Number of messages on the taskbar icon and list of messages on Windows notifications.

One other change I have noticed with the new version of the Official Messenger app v2250.1.0.0 is that before, Mark as unread does not work for the conversation you are currently in as you first have to be in a different conversation and then right click on the conversation you want to mark as unread work. The new version seems to have fixed the issue and you can Mark as unread from the current conversation.
