Explorer Patcher is well known to have issues when a new Build of Windows 11 is released; mostly when a "Windows 11 Preview" is released.

IIRC, the EP developer has stated he releases new versions for Windows 11 general release rather than for Previews.

I tried it and don't use EP, but for those who do use it, I hope you're wrong and that MS leaves it alone.

'Fraid not . . . There are specific clause(s) that state you only have a license to use the software.

I believe there's even a clause that states you do not have the right to reverse engineer Windows.

And I have made a specific choice to use Windows 11 without any add-ins that change the way Windows 11 works.

That said, I do use third party apps like Unchecky, Speccy, Firefox, Backup apps (Macrium, Aomei, Hasleo), Screenpresso, etc.

I can generally do whatever I need to do without any complications.

Today April 7 SAB worked beautifully immed after installation (Win11 23H2). Thereafter no way to run SAB.
Same scenario yesterday, reason for which I uninstalled /reinstalled today.

Thanks, @antspants. I've read the license agreement before and didn't want to go back to list the particulars.

I will say one more thing though . . . Microsoft has spent gazillions of bucks to develop Windows from 3.0 (where I started) to Windows 11. There is no way they're going to give away the rights to their intellectual property for a mere $150.00 or so.

I didn't buy the program . . . I rented/leased it for my use.

Isn't unchecky not supported anymore? I thought it wasn't being updated. As I understood it, it needs to be updated to know the different installers to work on. It was an awesome program.

Looks like they were bought by reason software, but their other programs like should I remove it? they had that are also not updated anymore but all of the websites are still up. Strange

Perzactly.

I started with MS-DOS 5 and Win3.1 back in '92, retired 2 years later and started new career in a computer store. I've had machines with every version from WinNT 3.5, 4 and 2000, also Win95, 98, 98SE, XP, 7, 10, 11. Only ones I worked on that I didn't own a computer for were Vista and ME.

If I couldn't abide by the EULA for Windows I could always change everything possible over to Linux but that may not work for everyone since we all do things differently. I do use Linux for a few things Windows can't do easily.

Having had a Mac OS X I do like cross-platform programs, particularly the free ones.

it is because they are, as stated by the Microsoft emp in a quote a few pages back, removing the old taskbar completely in the future. i stated this like 6+ months ago and pretty sure tihiy responded when i tagged/asked if sab would still be functional when that happens. AT THAT TIME, the response was no. we shall see...
no use in getting riled up about this matter. if it is removed, someone will develop software to do what the masses want... they always do... always

You must be psychic, Linux Mint with XFCE Desktop appears to be very close to Windows in the Taskbar area.

c'mon - get real

Ms wants Windows to be available to the largest number of users whether corporate or private -- deliberately blocking apps isn't what Ms is about -- and there's nothing wrong with Ms blocking an app if it (as it seems to) crashes windows -- I'm sure if the developer fixes it then the block will be lifted.

And as for Russians, Chinese, N.Koreans or whatever --there's plenty of tech people who just want to make some money to improve a lot of their miserable lives -- not everybody in those jurisdictions is an enemy agent wanting to bring down the West.

Some Brits might find some of the antics done by such an august institution as The Bank of England has wrecked their economy more than the combined might of N.Korea, Iran, China and even the govt. Even an amateur statistician will point out the facts that the typical Horse Racing tipster in the Sun Newspaper (hardly an oracle of a distingushed seat of learning) is far more reliable in its forecasts than highly paid official from the Bank of England and the Office of National statistics.

On this one I'm on the side of Microsoft.

The bottom line in all this is that Windows, Linux, Macintosh and maybe others are just like learning to drive a car or learning to do a job, have to get to learn it to use it. You'll note I left out marriage, that's the hardest to properly learn, still working at that after more than 60 years.
