Sometimes, I don’t have time. I log in to check mail before I have to head out and do something else or be somewhere else. Others may be the same. I don’t want certain email addresses on my mobile device. In earlier days when life wasn’t so busy, I did as you did.
So what's your alternative.
Mailbird is still my Go-To for 4 Inboxes..., (until they totally screw me over on my lifetime license..., that's a whole nuther story, though!!!)

Mine is still as crispy fast as it ever was, it takes about 15 seconds to start up but then i do have a 10Gb .PST file. It polls 9 POP3 email accounts in seconds. I also have about 50ish rules in place.

Why would the OP care if this persons outlook isn’t slow, they’re asking us for help with their own. It’s their first post, surely we can do better than “Not slow for me”
Maybe that particular person is just a 'user', not someone who's technically attached to it as others may be. I use Outlook pretty much to its full spec, others may just poll a single email address and so it will /should be rapid.
Thunderbird (or sometimes known as "Blunderbird" can work decently)
I didn't see a mention of what version of Outlook (Office) was being used. I used to use Outlook 2007 with Win 10, and had lots of problems with email feed as I use both a POP3 server and an IMAP server to get my email from. I switched to Outlook 2016 and that helped fix the problem. Works in Win 11, too. Hope that helps.
