They started some time after the server change. Problem pre-dated whatever happened to lead to the 18/7/24 message wasn't anything to do with it. And the recent major IT issue didn't affect them. (It did cost me my on-line medical appointment though! Fortunately, unlike for others, not a problem for me).
I'm now going to follow your suggestions from Sunday so may be off air for a while.
The thread got a little complicated, too many directions, my fault.
Try post 12. I think the important thing is to clear the current email and data files/profile if you have one.
Then once everything is cleared (Steps one to 6) go back and open Outlook, add the email address and let outlook find the email settings on its own.
Cross fingers.

I reinstalled Outlook to ensure i had a "good" copy.
I then used your suggestions from post 12 but found I was unable to delete the default account - the app wouldn't let me. Nevertheless I carried on and I now have everything working normally with just the IMAP account. Only time will tell whether issue is solved!
I thought I'd answered your question re dates but can't see it. Anyway, there is no apparent link between dates and onset or occurrence of problems.
Did you try this via Outlook or via Control Panel? Reinstalling Outlook seems excessive.
I find it interesting that they are asking you to use these ports
In port - 993
Out port - 465
Encryption SSL/TLS
Port 465 is all but obsolete and has now been deprecated, but some mail servers still use it.
The most common port for SMTPS is now 587 / STARTTLS
465 you would use SSL/TLS as they requested
I hope it sticks.
It’s a shame that they can’t supply you with a link to unblock your own IP. I have a section on my servers where as I can, it makes life so much easier. It would of made it easier to connect and help you troubleshoot.
Maybe if all goes well and when it’s time to add your POP3 account, you would like me to connect again? You know I am happy to help you, any time, Ian.
Otherwise, there are other ways to help you.

All is well so far . I'm running just with the SMTP account for now. Will add the POP once I am reasonably sure problem is over. The only issue I have at the moment is totally different and I am sure it will go away soon. Two or three times a day Outlook downloads spam emails (you will have seen the one "I have recorded you ....." which is pretty clever given my camera is only plugged in when I want to use it! It also contains a virus - ExtrotMail.JS. I get about half a dozen at a time. Avast fields them and routes them straight to Quarantine so not a problem, just an irritation.
Are you marking them as junk in Outlook? Not good mate. Something that you’ve signed into using your email address has been compromised and your email has been added to a list for spam.
You can check if any site you’ve used your email address on has been compromised by entering your email into this page, it will tell you.

Outlook is automatically flagging them as "SPAM...) and moving them to Spam and I delete them. Outlook firs moves them from Spam to Trash and you can delete from there, Avast also deals with it, deleting the message part and moving the virus part to its Quarantine.
Re PWned, the are about 20 dating mostly dating from 2013 to 2020. Only two this decade - 2023 Twitter and 2024 Post Millennial.
Also I have just noted that the emails re from my address to my address! A full virus check is OK. I get a fair amount of spam but after having been using this address for maybe 30 years hardly surprising.
Edit - Don't use either Twitter nor Post Millennial though have a Twitter account.
Shouldn't this thread be moved to its own space? It wasn't intended as a new one but seems to have developed into one.
Short of logging into your YNH Webmail online and setting up rules so they don't reach your PC, if they allow that on the web server, like you said, it's 30 years old.
I'll have a look at the PLEX documentation (I believe that's what YNH uses?) tomorrow when/if I get a chance, I have a client coming tomorrow and that I know is going to take most of the day. Otherwise, ASAP!

My hopes have been dashed. Locked again.
Only running the one usual SMTP account. This time it happened overnight - last email received about 21.30. Not working this morning. I'll find out more when YNH unlock me - I told them half an hour ago. Assuming it is something I own, source of incorrect login attempts (source of problem) can only be one of the following - two PCs. one laptop. two smartphones. Apart from Outlook on the two PCs nothing else connects automatically to my mail server. According to YNH soyrce is my IP address (and my Id & Pw).
Is there any log kept on PCs or laptop of internet activity? Is there any app I could install that does.

First add a new profile, make it the main profile then delete the old one, also the email account
Add the IMAP account to the new profile after you have deleted the original email address and the original profile
This can be done via the control panel method I have shown you in the past.
If you want me to connect, just ask.
I am currently in the middle of migrating nearly 100 accounts to a new server. But I can pause it to help you. Let me know in a private message.

I'm not sure what you mean about creating (in Outlook) a new profile.
You are obviously busy and thanks for offer to give me priority but since this issue has been ongoing for months now, there is no rush. In the meantime I'll gather as much information as I can from YNH. I have asked before and they don't seem to have much more than id and IP of source of attempt to log in. Last time they referred it to PLESK and their advice was to delete account and recreate. We'd already been through that so not very helpful.
Reminding you that this is done via control panel, not in Outlook. As per the steps.
I do really have time for you. What I am doing is almost automatic.

Looks as if YNH have solved the problem. They tightened or updated the spam filters at server level and since then my spam has dropped from the dozens a day to to less than half dozen a day. I have my own Outlook filters in place again. Hopefully that will also solve the locking issue!
