I don't really know what I have to delete, it may not be Realtek?

Thanks. I looked at the event logs but couldn't see anything useful, ie file names. I'll have another go later but I'm breaking new ground here and on a steep learning curve.

Is Trace Viewer the best for log files (etl) ?

I've tried time and time again but I can't get any useable information out of the update log files.

I've just spent 3 hours with MS tech support. They took control of my PC and tried everything before giving up.

They suggest that since the PC is working fine (other than update) that I just use it until I'm ready to replace and that Windows will work safely and reliably without any updates for as long as I want to keep it.
