My internet drops out every day or so. What is happening is in network and sharing under network adapters it shows that it is attempting to identify the network indefinitely. I can re-plug the ethernet cable and then it works again until about a day later the problem comes back. I've tried a different ethernet cable and same problem. I can also diagnose the problem using Windows and it says it cannot reach the gateway and it asks me to click the fix tool which resets the the network card and it works until a day later the problem comes back. There doesn't seem to be a pattern as to when it loses internet.
I also have the NIC forced to a specific IP address for port forwarding but the settings are correct and have been the same settings for many months and this losing internet issue has only been happening recently. And Windows is not reporting an IP conflict and I've also double checked IP's for any conflicts. I've also went into device manager, located the network adapter which is on-board, and disabled "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" under power management. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the network adapter driver.
I am thinking a faulty NIC and luckily the mobo has two so I will try the second one soon. Currently I am in the process of testing another ethernet cable.
Any other suggestions I should try?
