Thanks for posting. I use to use this but having SSDs it is not a good thing. I let Windows clear its own now.

I just tried the Portable version thru PatchMyPC and it turn System Protection on. Odd behavior all around.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. Using your link, I DL'd the portable, was very carefull where I put it. Carefully extracted it to another folder. Ran the CCleaner64.exe from the folder. It turn Protection on.

The portable version from Piriform turns it on also. Probably the packaging that supresses it on the PortableApps version.

However, there is one small change I make to mine. I neither want nor need their Driver Update package, so I omit to extract the x64 and x86 folders. These only contain CCleanerDU.dll which is only ever used by Driver Update and not needed for any other CCLeaner functions.

Try deleting yours....

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

That explains why the PortableApps version is OK. Those folders are missing.

The other thing I noticed is you did that running RP, not RTM. May have no bearing at all, but I wonder if the OS version is involved. Others are running Win 10. I'm gonna try it on my wife's lappy, which is still on Win 10.

They are about as useful as a chocolate tea pot if you have the Free version anyway. DU is a paid-for feature.....

I just deleted the CCleanerDU.dll from my Portable Apps folder and ran the CCleaner64.exe, and it did NOT turn protection on. (y)
