Don't worry...as long as you don't have a 12th gen Intel CPU with BIG.Little core design all your games will run fine and even better on Windows 11 compared to 10.

When I buy a new computer, I now use a Macrium Rescue disk to Image the drive before I set it up. After I go through the process of setting up Windows, I install Macrium and make another image. Then I install my programs and make any changes I want.

Well I don't do games but I do have a lot of old software, some of which dates back over 20 years. I've not found anything that could run in W10, but couldn't rune equally well in W11. Everything works just as it did before.

What has been removed are some of the functions of the Taskbar, click-and-drag to the Taskbar for example. None of that should be relevant for gaming.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

Just done a pc health check and it fails on one option, no TPM 2.0. The windows software tells me lots of things but not how to insert said software into my pc.

No. You could download the ISO from MS and perform an in-place upgrade if you like.

Waiting does have the advantage that if there are any known blocking issues for your particular hardware/software configuration then you won't be offered the upgrade until they are resolved. But such issues are few, and you may just be waiting because it's a phased rollout, not due to complete until mid-2022.

Both of my computers that you see below were upgraded to Windows 11 on Oct. 5. I've had no problems with Windows 11. I've felt no need to add any programs or "fixes" to make Windows 11 look or act like a previous version of Windows.

I agree with @zooburner and @Winuser. Image Windows 10, upgrade to Windows 11. If your games don't work to suit you, reinstall you image. I upgraded a new Windows 10 machine as soon as I got it and it runs great. There are a few quirky changes over 10, but if you don't like them you can find the solution to all of them right here on this forum in the tutorial section.
