New Printer Recommendations

I use to have the same problem with all of the HP printers I have owned. The 6830 has had the problem but not as many times as the other HP printers. Now that I said that the problem will probably raise its head. The scan to computer app has stopped working. I have ViewScan x64 and NAPS2 installed if I need to scan to my computer so I haven't tried to fix it. It might even be due to the fact that the printer is in sleep mode.

I just use the built-in Windows Fax and Scan. Works a treat. Recognizes both my Brother and my wife's Canon downstairs, and works with both. Wirelessly.

If you don't send faxes (and hardly anyone except doctors and lawyers does nowadays), consider a PSC (Printer/Scanner/Copier) instead. They almost always cost a bit less than the same quality AIO (all-in-one).

The only reason I bought one with the fax is, Comcast/Xfinity gives me a free line with my internet service, so I come out of my cordless phone base, with a short phone extension cable to my printer. I’m not sure I’ve ever actually used the phone, but it’s nice to have a full time dedicated fax. I’ve probably used it as a fax a couple times, like you said, doctors offices would rather use a fax, so a few of my friends have used it to fax back and forth to their doctors offices.
