Can you help me on which screen do I go to find the option to make the icons in the tray even smaller?
On this screen there is only small and large but to stay = startallback and the way I want it would have to be less than small and reduce the spaces even more, what is the way to do this?

The option that I was referring to is the one in your screenshot, Taskbar icon size: Small. However, on Windows 11 version 24H2 you also need to enable the "Windows 10 (ExplorerPatcher)" taskbar style option or, if you are on Windows 11 version 23H2, the "Windows 10" taskbar style option. To be able to do this, you might need to disable Classic Theme first.

Also note, My taskbar that you can see in my previous reply is an example screenshot of the "Windows 10 (ExplorerPatcher)" taskbar style when using 3840x2160 screen resolution and 150% Scale.

I can make the icons even smaller by changing the Scale setting (in Windows Settings | System | Display) to 125%, but if I do that, then some UI text becomes so small that it is fairly difficult for me to read unless I move my head closer to the screen.

I went back to using Explorer Patcher after about 8 months using StartAllBack. It seems that StartAllBack makes Explorer slower to open files, etc., and it even gives errors in programs. There must be a problem with StartAllBack, which uses high GPU resources. explorerpatcher better at this now. I want its developer to add more options. I'll print what I want the next versions to have.the option to leave smaller spaces for the tray and taskbar icons, It would be perfect then, don't you think?

I just upgraded Open Shell to latest version 4.4.194 and now the bug of the search button disappearing when using Open Shell together with Explorer Patcher seems to have been fixed! The taskbar color returning to Windows default when I click on the search icon is still there, but it goes back to the Open Shell configured color after a few seconds, so it is not as annoying as before. Thanks.

Microsoft and other major antivirus vendors have flagged ExplorerPatcher as "malware". This is likely due to Microsoft's hatred against ExplorerPatcher, not because it contains a virus or such. Flags from Microsoft usually spread to other antivirus vendors.

Please include the following files and folders in your antivirus' exclusion list to prevent issues due to antivirus detections:

• C:\Program Files\ExplorerPatcher
• %APPDATA%\ExplorerPatcher
• C:\Windows\dxgi.dll
• C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.StartMenuExperienceHost_cw5n1h2txyewy
• C:\Windows\SystemApps\ShellExperienceHost_cw5n1h2txyewy

For Defender, you can run the following script in PowerShell as an administrator:

• If you are downloading from this page, please temporarily disable real-time protection or save to a folder excluded from antivirus scans.
• Failure to exclude ExplorerPatcher's files may result in inability to install/uninstall EP and explorer.exe being unable to start.
• If you do not trust this process, please refrain from using ExplorerPatcher and look for alternatives instead.
• Microsoft, if you are reading this, please reconsider the detections as there are a lot of users who trust this program and that risks from future EP developers are a thing.

Note

When updating to 24H2, please uninstall EP before starting the update. You can install EP again with your settings intact after updating to 24H2. Due to explicit blocks by Microsoft, the update cannot proceed if EP is installed.
Tested on OS builds 22621.3296, 22631.4391, 22635.4440, 26120.961, 26100.1150, 26100.2161, and 26120.2213.

Simpler: Temporarily disable Windows Defender or other antivirus. Install/upgrade Explorer Patcher. Add an exception to Explorer Patcher in Windows Defender or other antivirus. Enable Windows Defender or other antivirus. Apart from the known bugs when using Explorer Patcher together with other utilities such as Open Shell, I haven't seen any serious issue. I believe it is safe to use it provided you keep it updated. File Explorer crashes and doesn't load if you have a very old version of Explorer Patcher. If you upgrade to the latest version File Explorer works properly again.

There's no longer any need, as Windows Defender currently no longer blocks ExplorerPatcher. And yes, always update ExplorerPatcher to the latest version (pre-release or not, just use whichever is the latest unless maybe if you are a sado masochist).

Once I had left my father's computer without updates for too long. I forgot to update Explorer Patcher first and I installed all Windows updates. After restart File Explorer would crash and it wouldn't load and all I could see was a black screen. I had to press CTRL+ALT+DEL to open the list and select Task Manager. I went to the Details section, found Explorer and ended the task. I then selected Run new task and executed msedge to load Microsoft Edge so I could download latest Explorer Patcher. I installed it and updated Explorer Patcher to the latest version which fixed the compatibility issue and File Explorer worked properly again.

No, you didn't.. you could have pressed Ctrl + Shift + Esc to keep the list closed and open Task Manager instead.

You could have decided to execute %programfiles%\ExplorerPatcher\ep_setup /uninstall instead, and confirm to uninstall ExplorerPatcher. Then when the uninstall finishes, your Desktop and your Windows 11 Taskbar re-appears so you can use your computer like normal again ➜ download latest ExplorerPatcher.

You are right, but I never used the CTRL+SHIFT+ESC combination, so I don't remember it when I need it. Also I didn't know how to uninstall Explorer Patcher from Command Prompt, let alone I didn't want to uninstall it, so it made more sense to download the latest version and manually update it.

I just got a message from UniGetUI that there is a new version of OpenShell. It could not update it using winget command because it requires to restart File Explorer, but I could manually download the installer and update it from here:


A quick look suggests the annoying bug with the search icon/box disappearing is fixed, let's hope it really is. The other bug with the taskbar color going to Windows default when you click search ignoring the color set in Open Shell is not yet fixed. Let's hope a new Explorer Patcher version will address it.

I Asked the Person At Explorer Patch One Min it Worked with 24H2- The to Update patches and It Stopped working I sent some Info Over to Explor patch to show them what 3 patch up dates messed it up Had to go back in Regedit to restore what the Dissabled and Took Out . It's A Constat fight with Microosft There going to Scrapt 24H2 And Move On too 25H2 just a Couple of Month's since the Beta October 1 And Oct 8th 2024 Release version

As has been mentioned to other threads, if you want to block a specific update from installing, you can hide it from the list of available updates using either Microsoft's Windows Update Show/Hide Tool or a similar third-party tool like Windows Automatic Updates Manager (aka WAU Manager), both available in Major Geeks. No need to completely disable Windows Update.

Windows Show/Hide/Tool has been Blocked with an error the cersion we all been using is now BLOCKED with an error pop MS has Blocked it .

the show/Hide Please I've been doiung this for many yeat's to know when Ms is targeting software progran s and the people I can Post there account the One who created the earler vers of windows from 95/98/nt200 have been doing this a lot longer then Eleven forms chat have been running .Check With the Creator Dave was the programmer for these for Microsoft.
