New Version of ExplorerPatcher

@LesFerch, I know most everything in StartAllBack is self explanatory, but do you know of any documentation for the app? I can't seem to find any on the website. Thanks.

Be careful everyone. Not sure if this is the best place for this post, but FYI, I came across this in Bleeping Computer: Windows 11 KB5022913 causes boot issues if using UI customization apps

Microsoft specifically calls out ExplorerPatcher and StartAllBlack as causing conflicts with KB5022913 February 2023 non-security preview release.
I can confirm that ExplorerPatcher causes the boot loop, as described in that article, but I had no problem with StartAllBack. The article indicates that the issue is with versions prior to 3.5.6. I tested version 3.6.1.

My boot loop is simply arriving at the desktop and file explorer never loading, with a blinking screen.

Really annoyed by ExplorerPatcher's developer totally abandoning support and banning (emotionally) all interactions at Github such as bug reports like this, just because not enough people read his precious README demanding minutiae a la:

Also annoyed that StartAllBack is the only active alternative but demands money (sent to Russia no less). Anything else out there? It's notable that Microsoft itself only mentions these two culprits.

I'd been having an issue on Windows Insider updates since December where I'd get Black Screen of Deaths and have to uninstall the update or go back to a restore point. I saw something last week about a similar StartAllBack issue so I uninstalled EP before performing the update. It went fine and Windows booted up OK after. I reinstalled EP then and have not had a problem. I'm not sure if the same procedure might work with the boot loops?

Hopefully, someone forks EP and we can get active development again.

Valinet did a good job and my thanks go out to him, so RIP Explore patcher.
I only really used it to get the Toolbars back, now stuck with the crap Taskbar but using pinned folders on it which is a get around but not as good as having Toolbars.

You would think if as it would seem Microsofts intention was to wreck any customisation then they would realise that W11 doesn't offer the functionality that people had and still want now.

I got ExplorerPatcher with the Windows 10 taskbar working again on 22621.1344. If explorer has crashed, hit Ctrl + Shift + Esc and choose Run new task, paste rundll32.exe %windir%\dxgi.dll,ZZGUI and hit Enter to bring up the ExplorerPatcher settings window. In it, go to Taskbar, set it to use the Windows 11 taskbar and click on restart explorer to get back your desktop and taskbar. Don't try to right-click on the Windows 11 taskbar or it will crash again. Finally, either you can use Winearo Tweaker or you can use the manual method to bring back the Windows 10 taskbar:
Batch:
reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell\Update\Packages /f /v UndockingDisabled /t REG_DWORD /d 1
Don't forget to sign out and back in for changes to take effect. Finally, either
explorer shell:::{05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9} \SystemIcons,,0 or rundll32.exe %windir%\dxgi.dll,ZZGUI again to Customize system icons in the notification area.

ExplorerPatcher is dead. Long live ExplorerPatcher!

Just for info...
I'm on Insider 25300,
With StartAllBack, I had weird issues with v3.5.5 and 3.5.6, then I had weirder issues with v3.6 and 3.6.1...,
so, I stuck with 3.5.7 and everything is stable! 🤷‍♂️

I tried Explorer Patcher on my Windows 11 Virtual Machine and what a mistake. It kept blanking out my screen and reviving it over and over again. I had fortunately just made a full system backup just hours prior to my trying Explorer Patcher out, so I restored my system from that backup and all is now well. I am never trying Explorer Patcher again.

At this point, I don't really need him to do so. It works.

I think now the project if not finished with by @valinet must be continued on the GitHub by other people who have the knowledge to do that sort of thing

I suspect Valinet gave up, or at least shelved it..., the last few Builds really screwed up his work!
Not to mention all the b*tchin and complaining from users of the free software..., he probably said "Forget it, you bunch of ingrates!"

Hi,
Yep pity
I haven't had any issues so no updates in about 4 months didn't seem that weird to me seeing I'm not in the habit of fixing what is not broken
If the issue is he wants rubles now well I'd suggest maybe moving buddy seeing Russia is not in anyone's help list

But maybe local media has been manipulated there so much and he's clueless what is happening over there.
