New Version of ExplorerPatcher

I just uninstalled ExplorerPatcher and re-applied the UndockingDisabled registry hack until Valinet has figured out a way to make the Earth round again.

I'd love to ungroup taskbar items, but i'm not activating the Windows 10 taskbar to do so.. . If i wanted Windows 10, i'd go back to it.

Sorry to say it, as the GUI is nice. ... But Windows 11 isn't complete (without the old tasbar)!

That was also my point... if I wanted the Windows 11 taskbar, I wouldn't have went through all that extra effort it took to restore the old one and work my way around all the negative side effects that come with that decision. The simple fact that the Windows 11 taskbar takes up too much screen estate alone is reason enough for some to even prefer to live with those side effects, and, before anyone should ask, no, setting the taskbar to auto hide is not among possible options that I am willing to consider.

ExplorerPatcher .282 compatible version is now available and working fine on mine after upgrade, updates seem to come out very regular so hopefully you can sort it out how you want it. He is easily contacted with any suggestions you may want to give him for future versions. I am lucky it is set up just how I want it. Hope you all get it sorted the way you want it too

Reporting that ExplorerPatcher version 22000.258.31.3 is also compatible with current Dev build. No more Explorer loop. Working fine

Great @AndreTen I think maybe MS were slower releasing the symbol files until the Public release came out

Maybe the symbol files are released when the public build is released as a lot of insiders have had .282 for a while, as soon as it was released to the public all is well again. On one machine I used the tweak in Winaero Tweaker and got the same result as my pic I posted earlier, I even got the recycle bin pinned to the taskbar. The only thing that didn't work was the shift+left click didn't bring up the win11 menu but I think that may be to with a classicshell/explorerpatcher combined thing.

No, I had already installed the public build (via Windows Update like normal) many hours before the link to the symbol file (the link that Valinet posted) no longer pointed to a blank webpage instead of the actual file.

I think I follow, the blank page was there waiting for the symbol files but they weren't there as MS hadn't released them, mine was about a day or maybe 2 later and they were their then :)

Fixed a bug that caused the cursor to move when invoking Win+X (.4)

Fixed a bug that caused incorrect positioning of Win+X when the main taskbar was present on a monitor different than the primary one (.4)

The Start menu now automatically reloads in the background only when its settings change, instead of when any settings change (.4)

Improved the reliability of the "Restart File Explorer" link in the Properties GUI (.4)

Improved the detection of scenarios when the patcher should inject and apply the full set of patches to File Explorer (.4)

Here is the batch file I use for development, in order to quickly restart File Explorer. Make sure you use the absolute latest version of EP (31.4) for it to work:

Replace C:\Users\root\Downloads\ExplorerPatcher.amd64.dll with the path to your dxgi.dll/ExplorerPatcher.amd64.dll.

Avoid killing Explorer with taskkill /f /im explorer.exe, for example, as that shuts it down without it having a chance to save the settings. Instead, use the new exported function of ExplorerPatcher, ZZRestartExplorer, which restarts it gracefully using Windows' Restart Manager. This will also reopen any folder windows that you had open, mainly restoring the state before the restart.

According to Valinet's description (see the "Experimental" section at the bottom of the description in the actual release itself─not the README), the ExplorerPatcher.amd64.dll file only is needed if you want to use Classic Theme. I edited my batch code (that I posted here previously) so now it deletes the old (dxgio.dll) file first, and avoids using taskkill to restart Explorer. Backing up and restoring the Taskbar Toolbars doesn't seem to be needed when simply updating ExplorerPatcher. Only when you have to reinstall it.
