Not showing thumbnails for all my desktop

I have a few attachments to my desktop mostly snips I have taken and saved them to desktop. Now I have tried all ways I can find to show all of the desktop items as thumbnails and not icons but am still getting some items showing as icons and some as thumbnails.
Any help really appreciated

Like, for example, some jpeg files are displayed as icons while other jpeg files as thumbnails?

Yes caramba mate I am in the same boat with my main desktop machine and just cannot tell you how frustrating it is as trying all the usual fixes there is some glitch in the system caused by whatever (?Windows updates?) and just put up with it.

If you want icons only you may add the option on the Registry using the Command Prompt (Run as admininstrator):
REG ADD
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer /v DisableThumbnails /t REG_DWORD /d 0

Mate could you be a little more specific please as I see it just as adding a new DWORD entry in that reg spot in the right hand pane or in the add key in the left pane.

The syntax should have been:
REG ADD HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer /v DisableThumbnails /t REG_DWORD /d 0
