Office XP on Win 11?

It seems the cheap keys I found on Amazon / eBay are no longer offred. However, there is Office 2019 for $30 on Stack Social and Office 2021 for $20 more Search "office" | StackSocial

Note This licensing type will NOT be connected with your Microsoft Account, but on your actual device. It's best to obtain a license tied to your MS account.

Thanks. I actually ran across Stack Social from another direction and saw that. Again, I'd really prefer the vintage interface. The 2007+ interface is really a travesty. Perhaps I need to give in to the travesty.

But that noted... why is having the purchase "connected" to my "MS Account" better than one purchased from an authorized reseller? What are the advantages.

How "Authorized" is "Authorized". There are plenty of sellers out there selling Windows and Office for what seems rediculously low prices. Some of these seem to work decently (including with updating" for years - other smight be "Pirate copies", and yet others might be "legit VL copies or OEM versions" which are being flogged on.

Mind you unless you know it's definitely a pirate copy (usually those are KMS activated or require some KMS trick) then the chances are the source is legit - just - and it's worth a risk -- but as always AYOR. As Ms doesn't seem to be taking much action on these cheaper offerings then one can only surmise that it's not really concerned about them and the keys won't "suddenly break". But again AYOR.

Cheers

I poked around before purchasing there and they had a link back to the Microsoft site that showed them as an authorized reseller. But I can't seem to find that now. Hmmm....

As for risk, the software itself comes from MS, SS just gives you a key. So, it's the cost of whatever the key price was that's at risk if it's not legit.

Sorry, that is wrong. I have Ofc2021 that I bought 2 licenses from Stack Social and it is tied to both my devices and my MS account. I certainly can move it to another device as long as I uninstall it from this one first. When I go to manage my MS account online here's what I see. I have already moved one of the copies once. MS does have a limit on how often a license can be moved though.

Must be different between the US & Australia, because I have bought a couple of Office 2021 Pro Plus licences from StackSocial and I’ve never seen them in my MS Account.
I’d guess it’s because they know there’s nothing we can do about it from way down here. Maybe the TOS or conditions vary… Who knows.
I’ve had some bad experiences with American companies and having no rights and no course of action.

🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Beats me. Guess MS likes me or something....or I've just been lucky. Truly I have always been very leery of the cheap licenses and knew it was a chance I was taking when I bought them but neither my Windows license nor the Office license has ended up being a volume license.

Office 2021 shows as perpetual In C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Office\Licenses\5 . The new Beelink I got at Christmas came with a volume license for Windows Pro. I was scared of it so biting me in the butt at some point so I replaced it with the license I bought from SS. It now shows as retail.

Microsoft Account, always.
My account is logged into in the Office Programs but that’s where it ends. I don’t know why because I have also seen Edwin mention that his shows in his account. Maybe it’s like an EU vs USA where as it’s different availability for different countries?

FWIW, I also have Office 2007 but despise what MS did to the interface at that point. Also, Office 2007 doesn't like my Access database from Office XP (perhaps repairable, I haven't drilled that one yet).

So, I'd much prefer to use Office XP. My other alternative would be to install some third party software to reconfigure Office 2007 to make the UI more usable. Perhaps I could run VMWare but I'd prefer to avoid more complexity for this.

My installation ran normally. No errors or difficulties. I can start all the programs. But when I start them, they come up (looking normal) and then disappear a moment later with no error messages displayed. Access comes up and stays up, but then crashes when I click into it. I've tried a couple uninstalls, repairs. amd re-installs to no avail. The Compatibility Troubleshooter is useless as always, but you probably knew that. Manually setting compatibility for the executable to Windows 7 or XP doesn't make any difference.

Any ideas? I did search this site but found nothing... which in itself seems odd. I'm surely not the only one.
The UI on modern versions is fine and does not take long to learn. It is really not that difficult - ps age is not a barrier as many say.
