Solved One last attempt to change LEGACY to EUFI

Somehow when the PC was purchased, the fellow there installed it on LEGACY by some obscure way as I'm not able to change to EUFI, nor by reinstalling W10, nor via Command Prompt methods suggested so far on many forums, W10 and many other included. W10 wont install with media creation tool due to some partition issue neither.

I was suggested by a member on W10 forums to attempt here for some advice.
My System meets all requirements after finally I was able to enable TPM.
This last hurdle kept me stuck on the computer the all day and no luck so far.

Could you post the make and model of your computer? If it is a self-built system, then please post the make and model of the motherboard. We may be better able to provide to you better advice if we can look at the specific details for your system.

To set the BIOS to UEFI, you have to enable CSM... and choose: UEFI in Storage Boot Option Control
These settings are on the BIOS tab in your BIOS

This is from your motherboard manual.

I do have the exact same settings on my BIOS but still shows me on legacy on system information and on PC Health.
EDIT:
On Boot option #1 and #2 I have no UEFI just what appear to be my drivers numbers.

#1 Right now, is the drive you are trying to install windows on, MBR or GPT ?
#2 Have you created a strictly UEFI USB Installer ?

It looks like you have an either or. Boot option #1 UEFI Boot option #2 MBR

Are you choosing the UEFI option from the one time Boot Menu ?

What happens next ?

That`s crazy you don`t have a Boot tab.

Hi there
Why not use macrium to backup windows system. then in Diskpart clean, convert gpt, restore windows, use stand alone bootmgr to fix windows boot problems - then should be OK. using the bcd boot command might work also without needing to restore windows after converting disk to gpt and not erasing it via clean command in diskpart.

Just to add to what Ghot stated...

Note that if you enable CSM you are enabling legacy support. That is the whole point of CSM - Compatibility Support Module. If at all possible, especially with a clean install, I would suggest turning off CSM unless you have hardware that absolutely requires it. However, you will be fine having it on - you are still running in UEFI mode, you are simply adding legacy support into the mix by enabling the CSM.

Also, for Windows 11 support, see page 31 of your user guide. You need to do one of the following:

1) Enable your TPM. Note that this would only apply if you purchased and plugged in a TPM module. You would know if you did this!
2) In lieu of #1, enable the Intel Platform Trust Technology (PTT). This is described on the same page. Basically, this is a firmware implementation of the TPM and can be used in place of a physical TPM.

Now, this last point may be a sticking point. Normally, I would also tell you to enable "Secure Boot" in your UEFI firmware, but I don't see any reference to it in the user guide. I guess that you will just need to see what happens without any such option.

When you enable CSM you enable the ability to choose Legacy or UEFI in Storage Boot Option Control

Much appreciate but it is above my pay grade. I cannot use Macrium for backup, nor Windows or any other backup apps. It wont do it. I know I know, you may ask what I am doing here if I am so hopeless with these matters.
It suffice that I am so surprised I managed to reset my PC how it was before I did a clean windows reinstall. It took me the all day but back to square one with UEFI.
And I am so surprised that I was able to get into BIOS to enable TPM and troubleshoot without nuke the damn thing.

But this is also true. But if you are going UEFI you may as well set it to UEFI only.

Update: You will need to see if this applies to your Motherboard, but I see that some have posted that the Secure Boot option only shows up on Gigabye MBs when you disable CSM. In other words, Secure Boot is not available when the CSM is enabled. You will need to determine if that is the case for your MB.

The object of the game is to have the Boot Option in the BIOS set to match the Disk Windows is on or being installed on.
CSM is just a tool to allow us to change the Boot Option to either Legacy or UEFI.
That Gigabyte manual is worded very badly.

Look at my manual...it's the same thing, for all intents and purposes, but worded much more clearly...

Well, for Windows 11 the disks have to be GPT.

THAT is why the PC Health Tool is saying Legacy. Because your disks are MBR.

Yes, you can leave your Bios set to UEFI and Legacy OPROM and never have to touch it, ever.

Unless you want it set to UEFI on purpose.

My next question if I may, how do I convert those disk to GTP, by buying Minitool license? Any other way to save the proverbial buck?

Nothing wrong at all with "Not knowing" -- we all started somewhere - that's what these places are for -- beginners are always welcome -- often "Students" overtake the teachers and we can learn from them too.

This same issue has been going on in the Forums since Windows 7, but at least it gave you a nice warning message :wink:

I would just set your Bios to Defaults and see if W10 boots and leave it at that, there`s no reason to rush W11, you have 4 years of W10 update time left.

Do you have 2 Operating Systems on that PC, that`s what the shot of PW looks like.
