Today it happened again to me that OneDrive folder icon under my %USERPROFILE% dir in File Explorer turned into a generic yellow folder icon:

As I learned under Windows 10 some time ago the solution once again was simple: used a text editor and changed the contents of
Before (wrong generic icon)
After (fixed icon)

As I learned under Windows 10 some time ago the solution once again was simple: used a text editor and changed the contents of
%USERPROFILE%\OneDrive\desktop.ini
like this (the number at the end indicates the icon number to be displayed from the exe's icon resources):Before (wrong generic icon)

Code:
[.ShellClassInfo]
IconResource=C:\Users\<my-user-name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneDrive\OneDrive.exe,5
After (fixed icon)

Code:
[.ShellClassInfo]
IconResource=C:\Program Files\Microsoft OneDrive\OneDrive.exe,5
