Absolutely. I often throw about an adage someone posted ages ago ... owning a computer is no longer a passive endeavour. If a user fails to recognise this and doesn't adjust and/or attempt to grasp what's now expected, then problems will occur.Nope. Talking about the noobs that just want a PC to work. Run YT, Emails etc., and have absolutely no interest in how modern day Windows works. You think it's ok to have the default with OneDrive syncing during install with just a tiny text line to change it. Noobs will only click ok for everything during instillation just to get the new shiny machine working. They soon find out later with the warning that they're running out of space for adding more photos and won't understand why. That's my issue. It's ok for nerds who know it all but there are people who simply don't or even can't understand the workings of Windows and use default settings thinking everything is good. So we'll agree to disagree.
Many of the inexperienced users just don't know there's another world outside Microsoft ... how many user think because Microsoft Office came with Windows, it's part of Windows. And often don't even realise it's a trial/demo/click-bait version, then just stumble along blindly and pay the money because Micrsoft said so, not realising it's cheaper elsewhere and/or there are other alternatives that suit their needs.
EDIT : I once had a client whose first contact with me was a call about when she opened up "Windows", the toolbar was missing at the top and the margins were all wrong. 15-20 mins on the phone proved fruitless so I made arrangements to come and check her computer out. She showed me how she started "Windows", that blue "W" icon on the taskbar !!!
How many of us have been asked to help because a computer is running slow only to find it bloatwared into oblivion, because that's what it came like. And then spyware/adware/demoware unlimited from trying to do their own thing with (frequently nefarious) 3rd party software that someone told them about.
These forums are discussions forums and it is often a consolation factor to the inexperienced that others had/are having the same problems and/or feel the same way of frustration about a product. And they often relish the advice that because it's there it's not compulsory to use it, and that there are alternatives.
